I can use my simple phone for $73 a month where I live - pay $80 for 20gb internet - carry a camera that can take decent pics - mp3 player that can hold enough music - carry a map and compass - notepad and a pen or I can use my smart phone for $80 a month with 6gb bandwidth
I normally use my smart phone because instead of carrying a backpack with all my stuff I carry it in my pocket, although for going 10km+ around where I live I take my simple phone (and everything else) because there is no network and I'd break/lose them one at a time than all gone at once in the middle of nowhere.
I am considering buying an satellite phone for use where I bring my simple phone so I can actually use it and will be able to phone for help if I ever needed to.
When I worked in an office I thought I wouldn't be able to work out that much but I ended up finding ways.
- When walking through a hallway that you cant be seen well thats perfect for situps, pushups and jumping jacks, anyone comes by just think up something funny. - If there's a door where everyone smokes have a "smoke break" (but dont) go out the door and run a few laps when your not crazy busy.
Thats a couple I did, be creative and find a few that work for you.
I'm in the same boat my BMI is 25.6. I've talked to many doctors and they've told me every time that a BMI in the orange/overweight (25-29.9) is fine and that I (and others) shouldn't worry unless my BMI is above 30.
This is exactly what happened with me and my favorite band, I now own all the albums and also went to see them 4 times last year (one time spent over $1000 on tickets *$60 each* for friends that I have converted and for that also got to meet the band)
Also now have about 6 band shirts.
Had I not downloaded a couple albums I wouldn't have bought the merch or went to the concerts.
Well, you can also have access to Windows source if you have in the thousands of CALs and to many licenses to count with the enterprise technet account and you harass your rep whom is in good standing you can sometimes be shown the source. (And you need to sign more NDA's than I ever thought existed)
but the $20 is much more affordable than the millions required to do it the other way.
Even though lethal injection is probably much more painful than a noose or a firing squad, it's easier to watch.
Although I'm not the slightest bit afraid of needles, nor do I try to be really "manly" I'd much rather take the firing squad than lethal injection. It's just *DEAD* rather than *oh here it comes I'm starting to feel something DEAD*
Last I knew (couple months ago) they used F5 BIG-IP. F5 BIG-IP runs a variant of Linux, although F5 BIG-IP did used to use NetBSD back around '04 (When it was clamed that Microsoft used NetBSD).
I'd say no I don't think they would be but my grandma that recently turned 80 is a freakin whiz with computers, she never needs any hand holding while using the computer and knows most programs inside out only having had a computer about 10 years (compared to my parents whom have owned computers for well over 20 years and still have no idea how to do anything).
I went out and bought a full Vista Ultimate and all I get is the price of an OEM version?
If (and I did) I bought a 'Vista Capable' computer that I was TOLD would work with Vista and then went out and spent $499 on Windows Ultimate because I was assured it would work but only get $200ish back because "Oops, we thought it would work... Our bad!"
I think this is still fraud. I want A) A computer that is 'Vista Capable' or B) A refund for the Windows Vista that I was told would work but cant return because I had to open it to install it to find out it didn't work.
I'll even go without compensation for the hours I wasted of my time to Backup my documents, install Vista, restore documents, find out it wont work, backup documents again, install the XP that the computer came with and finally restore documents yet again.
This is why I think I tend to enjoy Mac OS X, Linux and Solaris a little bit more than Windows, no hassles.
I love the freebies from Microsoft, that's the best thing with them, you say well... we don't want to spend that kind of money (or don't have it) and they go "well, here's some products see how these work for you" and throw a whole ton extra goodies on the side for "testing" and "documentation"
This is the biggest thing I miss from having my company.
Personally I've never found OO.o to cause any problems for me, in fact its fixed quite a few problems with my MS Office Documents (To many to count going from 2007 --> 2003 at my last job)
And MS Office at $150 a computer? Every place I've been to its been $300-$400 a computer.
For me though my preference is whatever I'm given, I don't care if its MS Office (2000+, Mac or Windows) or OO.o (version 2+, Windows, Mac, Or Linux) 98%+ of my time is typing and as long as I have a document at the end to show for my time I'll be fine.
The average user hasn't been locked into Windows for over 10 years, most people are just a clueless on how to do stuff in Windows as you are in Linux. They look at the screen and if they have basic problem solving they'll start to find out how to do things after 5-10 minutes (maybe longer with a Mac, Finder -> Applications might be too complex) People just click around until stuff happens and if it works great! if it doesn't work its broken!
Stick most people who don't use computers all the time in front of a Linux or Windows computer and all they see is confusion.
Totally agree here, I've bought roughly 500 songs from Itunes before and I'd say it was one of the worst things I've done in my life, I was only able to play on certain computers of mine using certain programs.
Now, I'm honestly tempted to look into what Itunes is offering again, now that its not DRM'd I'm able to play the music I payed for and that's all I'm looking for hell, my name? my email address? I wouldn't even call that a price to pay to be able to use what I call "my" music.
No, they just know you bought Vista already. They have your money and would like to trick you into getting Windows 7 by telling you one of the features we don't like is going to be fixed (while adding more things you'll hate).
I have compared them side to side, to me 480p is noticeably not as high quality but 480p is more than enough quality for me (more so at half the price).

IT is done around the budget first.
They may not require fail over, a few hours of downtime may cost less than having it setup for fail over (x2 the cost or more).
Though I'd at least have the old hardware setup as needed for providing some basic fail over without having dupe systems

Well... when upgrading Windows it can work but your going to spend quite a bit of time.
I've moved Outlook data from Windows to Linux (Thunderbird) with way less effort than Outlook to Outlook.
I'd classify both of them out of the skills of a normal computer user though.
I really have to agree with your last part

Well... I need a mod down... Somehow I was brilliant enough to mix up the ARX and BIG IP
GG me...
Well, not just Solaris but both FreeBSD and Solaris 2.6 for Hotmail in the past.
They also provide powerful suite of storage management with data migration, storage tiering, data replication, and storage load balancing.
Last I knew (couple months ago) they used F5 BIG-IP. F5 BIG-IP runs a variant of Linux, although F5 BIG-IP did used to use NetBSD back around '04 (When it was clamed that Microsoft used NetBSD).
I'm positive they run IIS 6.0 in emulation.

Yesterday they filed for bankruptcy so its already happened.
Along with quite a few complaints coming from the employee's of Microsoft itself.

I agree with your post 100% bang on with both your points.
Pure dumb or just a fail of an excuse to skip last semester and next semester.

Not very hard with a server load of 0.00
I think I'd like to get some of what EA is smoking!
Everyone I know (if they know how to use computers or not) hates the DRM with Spore.
