Many enviornmental freaks don't understand this simple fact, but it is true.
I love the Earth and I'd like to see it taken care of- but the Earth has never been and never will be in 'balance.' It's a lie. You may dream about a day when all the oil is used up and we are driving our water-propelled cars that exhaust cotton candy. But it will never be that nice.
Someday technology will get us to the point where our impact on this planet is a fraction of what it is today. And while it may be true that people will STILL complain that we need to ease up, and not wear hard-toed boots because they leave imprints along the ground, we will find that Earth will still be here.
Of course, due to natural occurances it may be a degree or so warmer... or colder... it depends.
I wish I had modding power so I could give you a -5 troll. WHY is everything about Iraq? And what is the conspiracy there? Oh I know what you'll say... "O!L!!!! Bu$h is getting rich off oil!!! That's why he has become the most hated person in the world so he can have money and power!!!" Too bad most people that hate the current person in office don't think of a few simple facts: (1) He was already rich. (2) If he really wanted power he would be doing things EVERYONE liked... or at least not pissing off the world (i.e. any past liberal president).

We may be in a warmer cycle, but it is a firm fact that we've pumped up the methane, CO2 and CO in the atmosphere...
If it is a firm fact than you need to look up those firm facts and supply them to us. If we are in a 'warmer cycle' like you suggest then how much of this global warming is caused by humans (i.e. in your mind they would be called 'evil oil-producing, earth hating, life sucking corporate-loving thugs interested only in money')?

Would this not be happening still without our help? Maybe these villages in Alaska should adapt to their environment. This is one thing that is fundamentally different between people that believe in global warming, sudden climate change, etc. is that they believe that Nature is a prestine, perfectly balanced thing that would be PERFECT if it wasn't for us stupid humans screwing it up all the time. The truth is nature (notice the LOWER caps this time) is ever changes and has never been stable. Ever. Changes all the time.

Absolutely false. We started recording hurricanes in the late 1800's. We average the same number (and intensity) of hurricanes each decade.
It's real. The only choice we have, in the short run, is whether we wish to mitigate the changes by cutting down greenhouse gases -- immediately. We wait, there'll be new oceanfront property really soon.
It's not real. It's fear mongering behavior. Cutting down greenhouse gases is only ONE PART of what we can do- and this article above says that we are too late! Come up with some more ideas and stop spouting nonsense.
Of course, the same industrial and financial firms who wished to maintain their status quo by resisting change and financing PR fake science will shift gears in the new warm world and find massive profit in the meltdown. It's all the same to them.
Ahhh... there it is. The oil-corporations-run-the-world-and-are-evil section. When you use the term "PR fake science," would that be similar to (let's use a real example) a scientist who was fired from a well known environmental organization because his 8 year study revealed that when CO2 levels go up- plant growth increases (this would mean that the earth itself is helping to get rid of CO2 emmissions).

The big ones, like Katrina will deliver even more damage further inland than ever before. So, the evidence is mounting to the point where even the Bush administration is having to acknowledge that global warming is a reality.
THEN EVER BEFORE? Have you been around the ENTIRE time the Earth has been in existance to know that this particular hurricane will go farther than ever before??? Stop screaming that the sky is falling and it is all Bush's fault. I am so sick of people like you. It's rediculous to think that ONE person is the cause of a large hurricane. Many pirates that steal software only do it because the applications are really easy to get (if you know where to look).
If these companies came down HARD on Joe User and really scared these pirates I'm sure many of them (not all- not even a majority of them, actually) would just:
1) shrug their shoulders
2) install Linspire or Ubuntu, Openoffice, Firefox, Thunderbird
3) call it a day
If pirates were REALLY scared of being caught they would see the benefit to just loading their computers full of FOSS (and burning the many dozens of CDs that contain W@R3Z!1!).
I just hope this helps people to realize that the U.S. is not Pure Evil and out to squash everyone. China is actively censoring it's entire country because there are people that disagree with their government.
In the U.S. there are MANY people that disagree with what the government is doing- but having a voice is one thing that we pride ourselves on.

Let's take a geeky approach to this: What is the total volume of air of the world? What percentage of it is toxic? I could go on but the point is there is a lot about nature we DON'T know. Calm down.

I have the Volari V3XT (I believe).
I really would rather just pull the monitor over as opposed to shorting some pins.
I also got the V3XT because it has DVI out- and someday I'll want a new TV.
I bought a XGI card for my HTPC thinking that it would be the ideal card for my analog TV (s-video was supposed to be great). It works alright- but it will not boot to ONLY S-video. That means that every time I need to reboot the HTPC I need to drag in my monitor.
I've heard that newer NVidia cards can boot straight to TV.
Now I just have to decide on whether I wait for someone to work out a Open source driver for the XGI card or just spend the ~$40 on a NVidia card when I have a perfectly decent XGI card already.
heh- who am I kidding. I'm cheap. And patient.

Use the built-in XP version (which, if you've ever used the zip function will know it is quite limited) or use a 3rd-party app.

Nope, I started watching MTV during it's second year on the air. Totally missed MTV when its' focus was on Music.
PS: I stopped watching it over 10 years ago now.
