GREAT - now how can I stop all the "I'm calling from Microsoft about some errors on your computer" scammer calls? I want to reach through the phone and strangle them all....
I upgraded to a new iPhone 6S earlier this year, rather than wait for the next model, as I didn't want to be without the headphone jack. At least I'll have a phone with one for another 2 years before I'm forced to change... I don't need a thinner phone - I need one with longer battery life.
I'm sure the venues will LOVE the extra cost of buying all these bags and all the extra work for their staff to lock/unlock them. Everyone has a phone now, so the larger the crowd, the longer this takes and more expensive. It takes long enough to get out of the parking lot of these larger venues, so getting in and out taking twice as long isn't going to work out so well... They've gotta pay their staff to work longer for this extra work as well.
I buy CDs mostly and rip them out to MP3 format for listening in the car or at work (where I spend the most time listening). I use Pandora (free) on my iPhone with a Bluetooth speaker to stream music while showering.
I've posted a few songs from live concerts that I recorded on my cell phone (crappy sound and all) and gotten copyright violation notices and warned that my account could be suspended. I've tried to fight it, but no luck. Why can't I do that, but other people post concert videos and even full albums, full music DVD rips, etc. and they don't get taken down? I was just offering the chance for someone else at the show to re-live the moment - and certainly not getting anything out of it. Very frustrating...
For helping friends/family, I like ShowMyPC.com. Both of you go there and download/run an EXE. Once it launches, they click to generate a code that they give to you and you connect using it. It's VNC-based and nothing to install.
Unwillingness to release it is a sure sign they've got something to hide IMO. If it's true, than what would they be afraid of? Surely it would hold up to scrutiny, right?
I stumbled onto this artist years ago who makes people from old TVs/VCRs etc. I've purchased a few of them over the years. At one point, I mailed him a box of parts that I had un-soldered from some old junk and he sent me some free capacitor guys...

When we buy new computers at my work, my Dell rep said that they must come with Windows XP Pro. We corporately have an EA agreement, so on top of paying for Windows with the machine, we end up paying close to $700 for each machine's EA license (OS/Office/CALs). Why should we pay twice for Windows?

Hey - the movie tanked - how can we recoup some of our costs? I know! Let's sue some file sharers!!
Sure, it can recreate an ancient villa, but can it run Crysis?

+1 I couldn't have said it any better if I wanted to!
I doubt this study even figured in the cost savings they could get now by using Samba 4 instead of paying for Windows AD servers...
