  1. Google is NOT EVIL on Yahoo to Take on Google Analytics · · Score: 0

We've had this conversation more than once, but to those who have not been aware, Google is not evil.....yet. They have not gone the way of Microsoft yet. The reason Microsoft is "Evil" is because they turned on their consumers for the almighty dollar. Google, while making a profit, has not turned against it's consumers like microsoft has, trying to control every aspect of how you use your product and etc. As long as Google allows consumers their right to privacy, and yes i know what your going to say, Google delves into your privacy, but the point is, you shouldn't be putting your information on the net if you do not wish for it to be seen. The difference is, when you ask Google that you'd like to remain private, they listen and and stop prying. Microsoft however, when you go to tell them to stop giving you updates, they do not listen because they think they know what's best for your operating system. It's why I switched to Linux years ago. But the point is, Google is not evil... yet.

  2. A good point on Someday You'll Hate Apple (And Google Too) · · Score: 1

There is a good point to remember here. Microsoft from the beginning had a goal and has stuck with it until recently. Their goal was to bring make a Computer a Personal Computer to make sure everyone had one. Well they accomplished that goal, but along the way they said "We did it!" "Now let's control what the user does and direct that money towards us" That's kind of how Microsoft became the evil giant.

Apple, well they've always just been plain evil. They sell pretty products but always overpriced.

Google has always been the anti-microsoft. It helps them out with PR because people are not liking Microsoft that much at the moment. This model works for them. Also they aren't as invasive to ones privacy as Microsoft is. Sure they show advertisments but they are off to the side and can barely notice them. They have to pay to run the service somehow. As long as Google sticks to these routines they will never be projected as evil.

However, google did recently try to bring more power to the user by searching with a search. But at the same time, this infringes on Larger companies more than it does the common user, but it still doesn't make it right.

So in the end, if google can maintain it's current stance and not be so invasive into our lives and try to control us, they will be perceived as a great company.

PS. Use Linux. I have for 5 Years. Less invasive into your lives and easy to use.

  3. I'll buy music now on Music Companies Mull Ditching DRM · · Score: 1

If this happens I'll buy music. I have over 10 devices that I like to transfer music too. People may say that's a little ridiculous but I had been downloading music since before the RIAA made it officially Illegal. I don't have a problem purchasing music if it's not DRM'd. Good move by the music industry.

  4. It's an Easy Fix on China Tests Anti-Satellite Laser Weapon · · Score: 1

All you have to do to fix this is A make a stealth satelite that's not easily detectable, or B, Give it a mirrored surface that will back feed the laser and melt the son of a bitch to whoever is trying to fry our satellite. End of that problem.

  5. My Way to stop a hurricane on Controlling Hurricanes? · · Score: 1

This is my way to stop a hurricane once it has formed. People never listen to me on this but I think it is a feasible way to disrupt the hurricanes. We (USA) have certain types of nukes available which do not give off radiation. At least the kind of radiation that would kill anyone. I say we develop the nuke so that it explodes in such a way to contridict the direction of the hurricane thus causing the explosion to spiral in the opposite direction of the hurricane and thus disapating it. All that would be left would be some rain. We would of course have to fly into the eye of the hurricane but people do that all the time, drop the nuke and then get out of there, ignite, and no more hurricane. (We would also have to call all of the world leaders to let them know what we were doing so that they wouldn't think that we were trying to shoot with nukes and it went off prematurely). What do you guys think?

  6. Re:What I want to know is... on Idaho Companies Tout New Wireless Record · · Score: 1

Ok, I have to comment, I fell victim to MicroServ's Terrany at one point until we received an alternate ISP. I want everyone to know that even at close ranges their ISP is TERRIBLE. The Internet went down 2 or 3 times a day most days. And that's at a short distance, I hate to see what it's like at a distance they are claiming. I wouldn't want to reproduce their technology with a 10 foot pole. I think it would be better for everyone to figure out how to do it on their own rather than copy their strategy. The fact that Slashdot is even covering it is really scaring me because Everyone reads this. True it puts Idaho on the map, but with the reviews it's getting on this subject even by me it's own citizen I wish it hadn't. Thanks Slashdot for ruining Idaho's Reputation even more. And I'm serious, don't support MicroServ.

  7. Re:Yes on Will Next-Gen Consoles Kill Off PC Gaming? · · Score: 1

Let's not forget Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City. Both games would have never come about on a console because the realizm that the game developers wanted to create just wasn't there. In fact a good amount of games for the Console came out on the PC first due to this fact. Later for the console including current ones the games had to be downgraded in order to even run smoothly on the consoles. When the X-Box 360 comes out it will show some realistic type games. But in reality PC Games can already acheive this. And I emphasize CAN, because there aren't may PC games out there that do support this but a $400 is capable of doing so. The only difference between a $100 video card and a $400 video card is the fact that a $100 can play all games that are out currently. But in a year or so your going to see that card fail. For a $400 card it will play games that aren't even out yet or are yet to be developed. Cards that are so powerful that it will support new types of technologies when they do come out.

  8. Re:Tell me again on Will Next-Gen Consoles Kill Off PC Gaming? · · Score: 1

Yes but that 9800 Pro when it first came out was $300 and it was $400 for the All-In-Wonder version. But the beauty of that All-In-Wonder version was for turning your pc into a media center.

  9. Re:Tell me again on Will Next-Gen Consoles Kill Off PC Gaming? · · Score: 1

Sure your talking about Half-Life 2 but it was designed to run on an old TNT2 Graphics card. I would like to see that 9600 Pro run Doom 3 at 60 fps.
