The slow, painful death of Radio Shack is more than symbolic. I see it as completely parallel to the slow and painful death of intellectualism in our national culture.
Demonstration: find a store with a sale, "25% off marked price". Pick something that's marked £30, walk to the checkout and hand over £22.50 (exactly) before the barcode is scanned. Many people will be impressed.
We have that whole sales tax thing here in California. Modify that £22.50 by another 8.75%. Quick!
Yes, I know. WTF does that have to do with anything right now? That's the point. Someone says Union X has caused a problem Y, and the response is to raise the specter of kids in coal mines? *That's* what I disparaged, and rightfully so.
We had one blaming unions and one saying criticism of unions amounts to children in coal mines. I was taking both to task. I said pure partisans are wrong, that we need to look at each case individually. WTF more do you want? Sheesh, this place sucks. I'm gone. We now return you to your partisan bickering.
The problem is that even if unions led to good things in the past, you have to recognize that they can also go very, very wrong. To be 100% pro union or 100% anti union is an unthinking position. People in those camps are no better than a cardboard sign.
I guess people want to work 12-18 hours a day, every day... and that is just their kids in the coal mines who will get black lung disease before 18.
I'm sorry, but that is just a fuckheaded thing to say. No, people are seeing some very corrupt and broken unions today, and want it fixed, but people like you can't raise yourselves out of the muck of extremist bullshit rhetoric. It's all false dichotomies and dilemmas with you people.
Nothing is perfect, but unions have made life a lot better than it was before. But because they are unions and get in the way of profits, I guess they are bad.
Can you not even understand that they can be both? That different unions are different things? You demonstrate the #1 problem with this country today. No one can see any nuance or individuality. Instead of seeing the different unions out there and judging them individually, it's just "DERP! UNIONS GOOD!" and "DERP! UNION BAD". You are part of the problem. I hope you're fucking proud of yourself.
I liked Inception, but I will agree the editors could have been a little more harsh. I think I could edit out about 20 minutes and not lose anything important. I considered it more of a technothriller than SF.
Anyway, the Hugo have been SF *and* fantasy for as long as I can remember.
About six years back I decided to always add the latest Hugo winners to my reading list. Four out of five times I started reading and went, "You're kidding, Hugos. You're kidding, right?"
I said "for scale". Sounds like the union wants to force untalented actors on me. They can kiss my ass. And if some actor sees value in doing it for less under the table or for free because they think it will open up doors or opportunity down the road, who are you to tell them otherwise?
The final kill in the RDR *is* pretty satisfying.:)
Agree on the multiplayer thing, I'm an open world RPG fanatic myself, but Borderlands gave me a real taste for cooperative co-op. Looking forward to the new horde mode in GOW3.
That always amazes me when I hear bad voice acting in a video game or anime dub. I could go down to just my local community theater and find half a dozen better actors who'd love to do it for scale and to have something for the resume.
A good open world game makes for a good toy. I'm considering starting another Fallout: New Vegas character that just kills every person he meets. I'll lose a lot of XP for failing every mission in the game, but I'm curious to see what happens if I get every faction in the world pissed at me.
Yeah, that was all I had. I was wondering if there was more. Actually, I'm wondering if I should add it to my grand "overseas retirement" target list. There was talk in NZ about tuning the whole thing into a retirement village.
Seriously, if you are a young person, what has been done to you is criminal.

Or, you know, that Internet thing: http://www.digikey.com/ http://www.newark.com/ http://www.mouser.com/

I deny that scattergorically and I am unanimous in this opinion.
ZOMG! Nazi time travel! They could be ANYWHERE! Shoot all the things!
*Yawn* Here in So Cal we don't even get out of bed for a 5.8.
OK, that's done.
Humans have arms that reach past their waste
I'd hope so or we'd never be able to wipe.

So keep going on endlessly about generalizations while it all burns down. I have my exit/escape strategy. Good luck.
Corruption exists everywhere -- if unions went away corruption would still exist.
Gosh, really?

Yes. Loved it. I liked "Spin" as well.
Please note I said 4 out of 5. ;-)

Maybe we have the Wild Wasteland trait activated.
Since I usually see movies with my ex-wife along (it's complicated),
Well, shit, I think I'd rather hear about that. ;-)

Do I care?

I'm thinking Endurance = 10. ;-)
o_o
The police department of Santa Cruz, California is testing a new method for apprehending criminals: beating them to the crime scene.
In Fullerton, California they tested a new method of beating them to death at the crime scene. Well, alleged crime scene.
Oddly, it was a patent for a method of issuing patents given to a small legal firm, who then filed a lawsuit against the Patent Office.

How does this increase tourism?
