    It is correct that the United Nations (as the Allies styled themselves later) did not give the USSR much chance after Finland, The Purges etc but the population appeared to have other ideas.

    You also were paid in 'company scrip', money that could only be spent at the company store to purchase the shovels etc. needed for the mining. At inflated prices of course.
    Company scrip was not legal tender and most countries ( in NZ it was the Wages Protection Act 1880~) enacted laws requiring payment in legal tender so that a modicum of competition could be allowed. Or at least envisioned.
    See the movie Matewan (1987) for an example of a company town, based on historical events.

    Not as hard as you think.

    Here in NZ Google & Facebook are now booking contracts in the NZ tax jurisdiction rather than via Singapore as was done previously. This has been due to increasing comment by politicians, NZ businesses and consumers of Google, for example, having NZ$12M in revenue and paying NZ$365K in tax.

    Also we now pay GST (our local VAT equivalent) on purchases from Steam.

  14. Be fair, USA made a fair bit of money out of WW1 as well,all those weapons were purchased by the Entente. The UK had to pay for a lot of the stuff in the early part of WW2.

    Blood and treasure = Russian blood & the worlds treasure.

    US gives weapons for free only to dictators and Israel.

    NZ has an economy built on the processing of grass into animal protein and thereby predicated on the suffering of animals. In my view being a vegetarian is unpatriotic :-) .

    it was not found because the Fonterra subsidiary in China do not test for such industrial additives in milk; it is not tested for just like you do not test for cement in orange juice. It is not in the process chain at any stage
