    This might be useful against drone attacks in small numbers, but the recharge rate between firings may limit it to very small numbers on days when the attacking missile, drone, or converted suicide Chinese aircraft (Taiwan says they have many hundreds of thousands aimed at them) are flying in a straight pattern on a clear day where you have clear line of sight.

    In other words, most of the time it won't work against a large-scale planned assault mixed in with planes piloted by humans, or even human-operated drones (pretty cheap).

    But it might be useful against terrorist attacks and small rogue nations like Burma.

    Technically, I was a certified Windows professional, and worked on some of their tookits and beta programs.

    Everyone is unique - the exact needs, temperament, and resources easily available to them differ.

    Those who need to play games - or want to - may find a Windows solution more optimal. Those who fear virii and other such things may find a Mac more optimal. Those who have some skill and value the end product more may choose Linux (e.g. Ubuntu).

    Remember, Dell already sold Windows machines - selling Ubuntu machines as well expands the universe of available choices.

    Many Windows machines can also run Mac OS, if you select options well.

    That said, Ubuntu is not as easy as a Mac.

    Mind you, most of the crustaceans here are clams, but we do have giant sea creatures.

    I used that in a short story I wrote that was published in the 80s and it's on record both in the US and Canadian copyright systems.

    MSFT can't patent what I already described in a public magazine.

    Dude, my Canadian girlfriend, who is totally real, remembers reading that story in the 80s. I asked her about it while I was totally boning her and she remembered it because both her and it are totally real. Next time she visits, I'll totally ask her what it was in!

    Sweet. Was she in The GOT or at SFU? Or was it the French reprint for Solaris?

    I work in Medical Genetics.

    Privacy can fail at many levels - intake, transmission, copying.

    Also, the genetic screening they do only is useful for certain things. Knowing you have certain genetic markers or gene sequences can be useful, but should never be revealed to insurers or other individuals.

    1) There isn't any requirement that this match the name on the account,

    2) There are alternative forms of payment.

    And the name on my credit card is NOT the one on my passport, my birth certificate, or my drivers license.

    I should point out you can get your pr0n and other stuff from bitstream or other sources, pop it onto your Mac Mini or iMac and share the cracked vid or music with your iPad from there. Using the appstore is OPTIONAL.

    Mind you, most of the people that I know who bought the current iPad or are getting the 3G one coming out this fall, or the unlocked Verizon iPad at Christmas are mostly into film.

    They like to watch TV and movies on the iPad, read newspapers, share photos on Facebook, and browse web comics.

    Because, quite frankly, the iPad is intended for Consumers - not for Geeks.

    for quite a few years there, Canada was in Afghanistan and there were no US military forces. Well, not counting CIA/etc.

    You don't get to make up stats using this years figures, after we've been fighting for longer than WW II, you have to use them for the total duration.

    No, at various times I saw DND stats on how many people in age ranges in Canada had some military training or experience. It's a lot higher than in the US - training-wise.

    It's totally possible it decreased dramatically since when I was CC for PMA and Acting SecO for PMA. Kind of doubt it, however. Especially with so much military being in Afghanistan (higher per capita than US) for almost 10 years now.

    Mind you, I was in back when all the missions were peacekeeping or local counter-terrorism or dealing with riots.

    I've promised that I'll be posting copies of the names, addresses and signatures next to the Fremont Bridge in Seattle.

    It's a good thing our State Constitution has always supported Public Petitions such as Resolutions, Referenda, and Initiatives are a matter of public record.

    The only thing private is one's actual vote at the ballot box - not that you voted - public record - not what you voted on - public record - not what Party Preferential Ballot you asked for - public record.

    If they don't like it, they're free to move to Idaho.

    Just basing it on when I was in the Canadian Army, and my years at HQ PMA and various units in BC.

    My statement was in regards to Canadians having experience with: a. weapons (mostly hunting), b. explosives (might be more common in BC), c. military training (SYEP and various other programs)

    Of course it's voluntary. You're thinking professional full-time soldiers - as I recall there were only about 50,000 of us back then, but most people had some form of military training at some point.

    I think you're confusing the American obsession with owning lots of weapons with whether or not Canadians have guns.

    Many military in Canada don't own weapons themselves, they just use the ones at the ranges or when they're on duty.

    Families tend to just own maybe a couple of hunting rifles or shotguns and share them. No sense having individual weapons for the most part. Where I grew up, you'd have a hunting rifle or two in the truck, and I don't remember it being much of a deal exactly whose it was when using it.

    A lot of military training happens on Crown Land.

    Up in Nanaimo BC is where some of the military train - Victoria has 2 active militia units, but they don't train much in the city.

    Military units in Calgary tend to go south to Wainwright CFB - I remember one early summer there we had a hailstorm, attacked by swarms of mosquitoes, and had to wait at a railhead in a military convoy with only a combat scarf to keep from freezing at night. Most bases are on the edges of cities and most training is off in the areas where civilians aren't.
