But the reason people want to buy the Wii is that when they look at all the demos and announced games for it, and how they can be used, they lose interest in the PS3 quickly.

At first, I thought I'd probably end up with a PS3. Then I read the list of games and read about them - and I thought I might want to get both. Then I saw and followed the E3 coverage and the pricing - and I decided I'm buying the Wii first and will wait quite a while before I'll think of buying the PS3.

The 360s been out for a while, and I haven't heard of more than two games (other than multi-platform) that I might want to play on that, and I got burned in buying an xBox for just two games, so I'm not doing that again.

So, the decision is driven by the games, but the pricing and other factors aren't helping Sony or Microsoft any.

So long as that's so, Sony has to bring their non-crippled price down to at least the $500 UDS equivalent price mark, or there will be a lot of surprised Sony execs realizing they messed up come Christmas.

Especially when the Wii is going to be even cheaper than that.

Pesticides was in quotes because plants produce thousands of natural pesticides without any human help, why aren't people worried about them?

I have no idea. I was just indicating a possible role whereby one might reasonably expect a regulatory agency like the FDA to become involved. And, actually, we do notice that diet can cause such impacts, when certain organic pesticides produced by plants become a major component in people's diets, or they lack specific abilities to break down said pesticides or pass them through without impact. This is normally more of an issue with women and girls, who have far more efficient dietary systems (men tend not to trap such things, as they tend to be less efficient).

As for your claim about Parkinson's disease, you might not be aware of this, but rotenone, the pesticide you are referring to, is a nasty synthetic creation. Guess where biotech scientists get their genes for producing corn borer resistant plants? Thats right, other organisms. Without a solid grasp of the science involved I think it's safe to say that Slashdot commenters and "bioethicists" really should remain out of the discussion, but that of course won't happen

Again, as you said, it won't happen. The point being that the discussion has ensued and we have to come out of our ivory towers. Well, actually, I'm in an office building near Gas Works Park, and most of the people I referred to are based out of giant lab buildings that are part of Health Sciences complex or the UW Medical Center (it's about 20 buildings, and then we have maybe ten others spread around the city, plus the people at Harborview and VA Medical Centers). good point. My guess would be the only creatures they're demoing are furless for one and only two reasons - um, wait it's three - ok, here goes:

    1. fur is added later in design and uses a lot of graphics, so they don't want to demo that part until it works well.

    2. mammary glands and shape alterations between male/female imply having two basic X/Y paths for the biomorph, plus are probably also later in the graphics design schedule. Again, they don't want to demo such things until they work well, is my guess.

    3. not everyone is as sex-obsessed as you appear to be. You'd love my uploaded Sims 2: University lots and stories, even though I don't actually show anything, I just make you think I showed it.
