Yea, but I don't think LockMart is going to ship all of it's factory workers from Marietta, GA to Fort Worth, TX (where the F-35 factory is), meaning those people in Marietta, GA, are out of work.
So the cries of a loss of jobs is very valid.
Individual mp3's, no, it doesn't make sense, there are better protocols/networks out there for that.
Entire albums, on the other hand, fall into bittorrent's area quite well.
I've been called a shill on here, and I wasn't even talking good about MS. I was ranting about Sun doing similar things as MS, and how we need to go after both companies instead of just singling out MS. Instead of people on here reading that as "Sun and MS are both doing shady stuff, let's rally against both," I was told to "stop sucking on Microsoft's balls, you fucking shill."
So while you may have a valid point, this is Slashdot, where anything not Microsoft bashing is usually written of as being a shill.
The Old Republic is what you'd be looking for (some time in the future). There's plenty of sci-fi MMO's out there. Even NCSoft had Tabula Rasa for a while. The quality of sci-fi MMO's is usually not too good. I have hope for the Old Republic.
You might be able to burn ISOs, but you still can't mount them.
Back in XP, Microsoft had a utility you could download called "Windows XP Virtual CD" that let you mount ISO images. Not sure if they ported it into Vista. Interestingly enough, you can't find it via MS's download pages, but it's linked from several KB and MSDN articles.
"Pay no attention to those things that look like missiles, they're REALLY a mix of lasers and machine guns"
So what would be so hard about making it look like this?
It's a Catapult (basically the Madcat w/ no arms), but it still shows my point. Basically, instead of rendering large box missile pods, just put laser cannons on the shoulders.
Personally, I prefer the "do whatever you want" instead of "missile a, b, or c for generic box on the shoulder" because it lets you play around more and experiment.
Their age? Not quite. A few friends from high school have political careers now, and they're not as open to these type things as you'd think. On a personal level, yea, they're cool with sex and violence, but politicians are trying to please everyone. While I may have more liberal views on sex and violence, I'm sure there's plenty of people out there who disagree with me. And it's not like a politician is going to look good saying something about "it's just sex.." The opposition will warp, twiste, and manipulate it into "Candidate X is a perv who won't protect your small children from sexually deviant material."
and so, "Won't someone think of the children" was born...
I would prefer multiple processes, especially for things like plugin support. Nothing like watching one poorly written swf hose all of your browsers for a minute. Also, there are still a few javascript tricks to lock the browser, forcing a manual kill. It'd be nice to just kill the offending process instead of killing everything.
I'm sure this could come in handy in court eventually.
It could come into play immediately with all of those P2P cases going on with the *AA groups. If an IP address isn't personally identifiable (according to the judge), how can you come after me based on that address?
This is a shell script BTW. extracting the list of bots can be done by scanning the appropriate logs.
You can do the same via PF's built in features. Search the FAQ/man pages for the stateful tracking options. It's got several options to restrict/limit the connections per address and lets you start dumping offending addresses into a table automatically.
we expect that to be changing under the new administration,
Based on what? Obama's policies on on domestic security and spying fall somewhat in line with Bush's, and he made no attempt to hide it during his campaign. There's even evidence with Gitmo shutting down. Some of the detainees will still be held indefinitely without trial in the interest of national security that the administration can't elaborate on.
didn't realize a private company [...] would not delete his personal information at his request
Given that their policy states that they will (would?) delete it upon membership cancellation, this seems like they're not complying with their policies. Unless they consider these people are still somehow considered members.
So they're offering you a discount if you purchase before any reviews of the OS are released. Maybe they did learn from Vista...
Also, I was looking at the Edition Comparisons (curious what was left out of 'Ultimate' since it's not in the discounted upgrade offer). Does that say you can't choose your language unless you buy Ultimate, or am I just reading that chart incorrectly?

That would be the movie's only hope of being good. And I mean being good in an Evil Dead 2/Army of Darkness sort of way.
You want to see the pinnacle of awesome, go watch the Double Dragon movie and the Super Mario Bros. movie back to back*.
*Disclaimer: You may actually claw your eyes out by the time you finish both movies.
Your "1%" chance enormously overestimates the chances of a black hole swallowing the earth.
Glad to know we're safe from the black hole, but what of the Fry Hole?
Just wait. When they finally get everything wired correctly, they'll fire that baby up on Dec 21, 2012 and prove you wrong.
But the notion still amuses me that they could be so fractured that one department may make a move like this only to be sued by another
As absurd as that sounds, it has happened in recently.
Yea, and apparently he didn't feel it was that important since he still voted the bill through with the immunity intact. http://www.votesmart.org/voting_category.php?can_id=9490&type=category&category=13

Not to mention the RIAA gave out just as much money to Republican candidates as it did Democrats
When you also take into account the donations from individual companies who make up the RIAA, it's not even close.
Waffle lovers.

Here's an article that links it if you're interested in it.

Anything Microsoft = bloat, crashes, unsecure. Get out of the 90's.
Vista was released in 2007. Just sayin'.

Offered. It's past its mainstream support date. Microsoft was retiring this package back when Vista was first rolling out. So SFU isn't something I'd say they're currently shipping.

The 'official product page' takes you to a comparison page trying to sell you Windows Server over a Unix OS.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/migrate/unix/unixproresources/default.mspx
I highly recommend trying it (unless you hate medieval/fantasy stuff). You can probably get it on the cheap these days, too.
I think you're confusing methane with bullshit.
