I do have an understanding of the current value system for dollars. And I fully understand that the current system is designed to have one dollar worth one cent after 20 or so years. Going away from the Gold Standard System caused this de-valuation of the dollar. It still has little to do with the fact that people want the US Govt to have cash reserves. As a tax payer, I want them to make hard choices with the limited amount of funds they have (Not that they will though). We'll all soon find out how quickly taxes get raised as the Democratic Congress begins it's push for this though. And then the folks who wanted a cash reserve will get it.

An unbalanced budget does work in world politics and world govts cannot be run as a business. If the US owes another country trillions of dollars, where is the incentive for said country to work against the US? They would want the US to thrive so they can get their money back.

Are sports stars over paid? How about actors/actresses? Or political professionals? How about the CEO/CIO/Exec Staff??? The same could be said for them as well. However, like I said, if you can get it, get it. And this has been said numerous times, but companies will always try to make it as cheap as possible to aquire talent. They want to maximize their profits. Personally, I think most companies make too much money, and don't pay the talent enough. You should demand more money, because companies are not going to give it to you because they are 'nice' and want to retain workers.

Well, to be honest, human's have a strong tendancy to believe that they are the center of the Universe, and everything that takes place somehow is because we are here (since the collective "we" are _so_ special).

So by saying that _we_ are the cause of, and potentially can provide the solution to, the environmental changes on this planet, humans put themselves once again in the middle of things.

Could humans be contributing to the warming of the Earth? Sure, I'll buy that. Could it be in conjuction with a natural cycle in preperation of another ice age? Perhaps. I just don't think that pointing the finger at ourselves solves anything. I think it makes folks feel better when they can blame someone. If it's too late, it's too late and there is no value with placing blame. The system you are using to view /. and post on here wasn't created without any CO2 being put into the ecosystem.

As soon as the Yellowstone Caldera erupts, you'll get all the ice back along with other results (human, plant, animal losses). So the Earth will take care of itself. Call it a self-cleaning system. Then the humans that remain, can rebuild and be a little more wise when doing so. But I doubt it.
