If it works it's called a solid business plan. If it fails it's called scheme? Does that sound about right to everyone?

Why? People seem to have funny standards when it comes to children. They have no problem with charging a 14 year old as an adult when it comes to murder, but have issues when a 16 year old sleeps with an 19 year old. Which is it? Are they adults or children. And being a child does not resolve them of their responsiblities. They do not get a "you can do what you want" card for being young. This is just the method for them to learn the rules of society. Wait a minute, did I just agree with the RIAA? Crap, crap, crap!! Here comes the mod offtopic.

Stupid? Good one, from some one who can't even spell "damn" correctly.
I think the follow-up posts about ownership and creation (which I too stated in previous post) says it all. I tell you what, whenever you create something useful, you should give it away to anyone with no questions asked. Doesn't that make you feel good now. Oh and by the way, you've just given away a revenue stream as well. Good for you. Yet, I get modded overrated for telling the truth. Big surprise there.

Uh, the UN can't even manage itself let alone a server of any kind. Sorry, but it's true.

Besides, what needs to be looked at are the interests of the parties involved in this. The question isn't who controls these devices, but why others want control of them. I would be more concerned of a body wanting control and not providing valid reason for taking control. IMO, the internet has come a long way under the US wing, and it is still a creation of the US and therefore anyone who wants to play on it should play by the creators rules.

Well said. I pay $23.00 for my VOIP a month. If it goes down a couple of hours a month, so be it at that price. And guess what, that price never changes no matter how much I use it. Can't say the same thing about POTS, nor can you say you pay 23.00 for all your calls per month. So you get potentially %100 uptime with POTS, goody for you. Life is a risk, at $23.00, I hedge my bets that nothing bad will happen in those 4 hours a month and I won't need E911. Hell, people speed all over the place, but you don't see slashdotters complaining about speeders taking "unecessary risks." Geez.
