the new generation of bittorrent should handle a lot of these concerns since it will allow bittorrent to go further undergound on the net...
i tired to submit a artical about it... and the all knowing "slashdot gods" shot me down twice...
exeem is revamp of bittorrent, made by the same people, that addresses aspects that leave us, the end user, open for legal litigation. it is designed to eliminate the tracker system getting rid of the centralization that was needed for bit torrent to work. and it should also change the way ip address are reported as users...the future is near.
i didnt know that there was a oregon / california feud! wow... north vs. south then it was the gangster wars, east vs west.. now its oregon vs. california.
when you have to have the court tell a company to admit that it was broken into and the 750+ peoples identitys were stolen because of it. its like a kid on the playground, one kid drop kicks another kid of the monkey bars, and when the teacher saw it and asks him what happens the kid replys " i dunno. he fell"... to quote my favorite itallian mobster, tommy vercetti "dicks, their all dicks!"
thank you.. that only happens to retards who run linux as root. if your running in root all the time i would assume you have sense enough to watch what your clicking..install linux on a typical Lusers pc and lock him out of root and guess what..no spyware...learn before you speak
Use T-Mobiles SLA against them to get out of the contract. i used to work for radio shack and we sold sprint products there... ever cell phone company has a Service level aggreement within their contracts that states that if service is interupted for extended time or if there is reasonable doubt that continuing service with them will cause you to lose finanical information . then they have to let you out of the contract..no questions asked
i saw this on the net a while ago and i dont remember if this was on slashdot...but its scary.. its happening!

This is great news! Big Brother is finally going to push linux and becuase of that linux now has a fighting chance to really over take windows. Linux has been needing a push like this for a while. Its a great OS for the tech savy. But now with IBM backing its usage, this may be the first step towards standardizing linux to become more user friendly and accepted by the business community.
Lets face it, in order for linux to really meet its true potential to be the most used and versitile OS it must be accepted by Corporate America before it will ever be accepted in every home.
The time is near where linux will finally prove to be a stepping stone into the future of civilization and computing instead of windows which at this point is still extreamly limited.
Come on now...a nuclear bomb? maybe a dirty bomb... i can see them making that but a actual nuclear bomb. even with google i seriously doubt it. The would need massive resourses to create a device and they would have to bring it into the country. because no country in its right mind ( other than N. Korean) would have the balls to launch a Nuclear device via rockets. after afganistan and iraq, i that would be polictical suicide for a Nations leader. its always possible but not probbable
riiiight...

lets see, your network is so insecure that someone hacks into it using government accounts and steals private information from your company.
do you...
a) tighten your security on your network so it doesnt happen again
b) appoligize and place it on your "things to do" list or
c) dont change a damn thing but pay snoop dog and company mega bucks to advertise your new sidekick II?
if your t-mobile then c is the correct answer!
Step 1 - Install linux -end
