They are both now classified as Antisocial personality disorder. There is no distinction between the two in medical terms I believe.Just different levels of the disorder. The article really does not help diagnose someone with APD , it helps diagnose an evil bastard
Whilst i was being a bit silly above , i do agree with you there. I have been very irritated at warnings given to me for camping(coincidentally on UT). Mostly followed by accusations of cheating , which i graciously responded to by switching weapons and winning the match the good old fashioned way , With a flak cannon .
On better servers people instead of bitching about being killed , would use their heads and flush me out with the flak cannons secondary fire or a sniper rifle of their own .
Now i can understand accusations of camping on a game like UT , which is after all an action based affair mostly . Though i have seen the same thing happen in tactical games , which really made me wonder if they accusers had any idea what the word "Tactics" meant (although trying to get someone good kicked off the server for camping is a sort of Machiavellian tactic).
Though online team based FPS games do seem to be a good way for helping children develop communication skills , co-ordination skills and planing skills .
Honestly they were not , it's just that there is far greater accountability today and universities are far less restrictive.
It only looks like the education system is worse because of the modern media. We are on mass far better educated than we were 76-85 years ago
the strict discipline of the 1920s-50s(and beyond) did not help children learn . There are as many old ignoramuses as there are young ones . I would say that strict discipline unless self imposed is a hindrance to learning , Children must be taught to enjoy learning , this is vital . Beating them every time they speak out of term or fail a test is not going to gain you a love for learning .
You shouldn't need to download extra programs (though not all software will work with the extra buttons , some do natively ) all you need to do is edit your X config file, firefox i know works with extra buttons without tweaking and a few more apps .
Yes , X supports any number of mice buttons , you just have to configure them which is a bit of a pain in the arse but you only ever need to do it once http://dotnet.org.za/matt/articles/39097.aspx for example there are plenty more examples you can find on google if you want to have a look. Its not really linux's job too do that , though i am amazed that all Desktop distros (I have tried , which is most of them for evaluation purposes ) are lacking a quick easy GUI config tool for the purpose as it would not be that hard to make.
Actually its a DLA ( Distributors/distribution license agreement) , So unless you intend on selling/distributing/using** the code then you can ignore the GPL totally
** using the code , refers to using GPL'd code in a program you are creating , not using the code as in using the product
"If I purchase a Picasso, I can burn it, sell it, copy it or frame it. Hell, I can sell prints of it if I like. It is mine. I bought it."
Quite true , unless the artist makes a specific condition , which is quite null and void in the case of picaso add to that the fact that any copyright on the image has expired . Though I imagine if you tried to burn it you would have a lynch mod of artisans after you
Firefox is not totally free though and it has a couple of restrictions , you can't do everything with it . For example you couldn't (as is my understanding of the Mozilla license) alter it and distribute it whilst still using the firefox trademark. Also i believe, as with the GPL you can't distribute a closed source version , the source of a derivative must remain open I agree with the second clause , i really dislike the trademark clause , but i understand it.
Did you mean to reply to me or the grandparent , because all i did was try to explain it to the original poster in simple terms . I don't see how that is flippant or making light of it .
Honestly your post makes no sense as a reply to my post .
To put it very simply. HIV is a retrovirus which attacks and weakens the immune system immensely , AIDS is a syndrome resulting from an acquired deficiency of the immune system.
Sorry about that , i only noticed after posting it ( it was downloading at the time). I just ended up listening to it , missing the video as it turns out was not really too much of a loss
Reminds me of a time i tried to report a fault to my ISP . this was a while back and i cant remember the exact details , but this is the rough conversation.
Me : Hi , i was wondering if the were experiencing any downtime in *Area* tonight, I can't seem to get a connection
help desk : oh , are you sure you have the internet configured properly
Me : yes , I have not changed any config files since this morning and I even checked a back up to make 100% sure. I can not get any connection to your service
Help desk : have you tried deleting your cookies ?
Me : I was actually attempting an FTP connection
Help desk : sir could you try deleting your cookies
Me : What exactly would that accomplish , I am not having problems with my web browser . I simply am not able to connect to your service
Help desk : Sir , if you could just try that for me , and we will see.
Me : It will not help , I know there is nothing wrong with my computer and was simply enquiring if you had any down time tonight.
Help desk : Sir , please try to delete your cookies and reboot windows
Me :.... I don't use windows and as i have tried to tell you,I do not need help only information
Help desk : Sir we can not help you if you do not let us
Me :... um , may i speak to a member of tech staff or your supervisor please
Help desk : I'm sorry Sir , no one is available
Me : Good bye *hangs up the phone*

I tried again later in hopes of finding a competent member of staff and was greeted with an automated message informing me of a server upgrade and to expect down time in my area.
The only problem Wind waker had (bar the excessively long amounts of boring sea travel which was generally rather enjoyable at first and soon enough you get the song of gales) was that it was the sequel to one of the best games ever made(not including the side tales such as Majora's mask ).
I only ever watched the BBC(I don't own a TV anymore) , which really has some fantastic programming over the 2 main channels , some ok radio programs (occasionally exceptional radio plays). The best bit about the BBC , no frizzing adverts . As someone pointed out above that it would be more expensive if they didn't have adverts (which is fairly obvious) , but the fact is they are taking the piss . Terrestrial TV does not charge for access and generally in my experience has half the number of adverts The problem is too many competing channels , 99% of which have absolute shite on half the time or constant repeats . I enjoy to watch classic comedy shows and enjoy reruns (after several years , and shows i missed the first time around.. which will perhaps lead to a DVD or two being purchased), but the amount of repeats on cable and satellite is silly.
I would happily pay for Ad free TV , i would be willing to pay up to 150 per year if it had quality documentaries , great new shows with good writing, unbiased news and a smattering of scheduling sense (unfortunately I'm not in the UK right now so no BBC, and the having to pay the license fee no matter what debate is another story) but paying for total crap and having to sit through 8 ad breaks an hour to watch anything is so mind numbingly frustrating that its no wonder everyone is starting to download TV shows.
Here is another point ,
if you have to pay for a service , what exactly are the adverts for.People are all to happy to pay for cable or satellite television channels and hardly ever question the fact that they also need to put up with advertisements
Interesting troll there would mod you funny if i had points ,
However you're missing out on a few things, what is the point in having a perfect world if you can't have fun and The advances in real time 3d graphics rendering continue to help in fields beyond the gaming world , medical imaging for example , simulations etc. .
Better to have people keep the psychotic in fantasy realms and out of reality though.
The only real differences you find in consoles for are the bundled games and the different colours (of late really), perhaps also an extra controller or some other small thing.
Personally I do not believe the HD DVD format is needed (much prefer the tech behind BRD , but i don't even think that is too useful and all the talk of DRM is worrying), that is not the idea people will get when they hear that a slightly later version will come with one though.
MS said games will not require the drive , they say that now.. Say a new game would need to come on two DVDs or more , so a company thinks"well lets release an HD DVD version and a multiple DVD version" MS will most likely agree , they will probably bundle the game with the HD-DVD drive or the new consoles with it. It all seems perfectly reasonable , after all there are two version . but you've right there created a divide . Other companies will follow suit if its works in some way.
This could work both ways , it could create a mass of sales of the HD-DVD drive or it could create a lot of pissed off customers who think they have an inferior version that they shelled out a large amount of cash for
It's not what they intend on doing , its the result of what they do . Perception is very important , the Mega CD never created a divide in the gaming of the Megadrive it merely gave us another option , same with the 32X . That is not how people saw it though
I have no problem with them dropping the functionality , but adding it back later will likely cause problems . Why buy a non complete console now when you can get a complete one later . Sony will offer their console with everything included , so will Nintendo . MS are going to create a lot of confusion .
I disagree with the main selling point being the media , the main selling point will always be the Games , the media playback is just a nice bonus . Even if BRD does not become the primary format , it will still be the game media and I have a feeling HD-DVD or BRD movies will not be that important till sometime in 2010 , after all.. look how long it took DVDs to really gain true mind share . by that time another round of consoles will be on the way .
I have a feeling that Sony may win the next gen format with BRD , after all if the PS3 sells anywhere near as well as the previous playstations then it will be hard for the movie industry to ignore an install base of over 50 million. They have less of a job promoting the format and it will come out as a natural leader.
Which ever format is easier , more secure and cheaper to produce will not matter if 50 million people already have the ability to use one already . MS if they want HD-DVD to succeed will need to get behind it and not be completely half arsed about it. They are handing BRD the market on a platter . Not to mention that several studios are already making Blue-ray disc movies , the UMD format for the PSP is after all a version of Blue ray .
The way i see it , they hand the format wars a silver spoon with the initials BRD carved on it , people may hold off getting an Xbox till the HD-DVD functionality comes as standard , by that time the silver spoon in BRDs mouth is well seated and the HD-DVD add on will become next to pointless.. So perhaps MS will bring out a BRD drive... by that time its too late
What MS says and what MS does are rarely related;) , plus its the public perception that matters not the reality. An improved feature set , be it for games or for movies will cause a problem People will hear that "New 360" will contain feature X and Y above their model, and then later on another version with features N and Z will come out , in essence competing with your own product.

Now they may intend on getting one later , but very few people actually do.
The only two choices people really want to make when getting a console are "Which games shall i buy" and " which type of console will I get" if you start to offer variations on the console beyond the superficial you rob the console market of one if its primary advantages

Co-operation ... voting to have you kicked off the server for camping
Which is apt because the three R's should really be W.A.R (well RWA) .
Playing EA games they will learn important business skills , such as :
....... fifteen sequels )
1:) milking a franchise for all its worth
2:)Maximising your profits by removing such silliness as overtime wages and workers rights
3:) how to count (One sequel , two sequels
4:) how to rush things to market to upstage your opposition
5:) how to cover up #4 with marketing
