I did heh a few years back now , but it has kind of faded into the background , though i still love messing around with the thing , it just cant compete with my powerbook
I agree totaly, me just rushing my posts there , I really should of used better wording. This is exactly when i use C,Interpreted languages will never compete on data crunching tasks(though the line is blurring)-
I wouldnt of taunted you , i would of offerd you cash for it. Those things are classic machines , also it does mention them in the artical. No true geek would give you hassel for carying something as oldskool as that.
I must say that this is the correct way to think about it , If it works and it works well then why switch to C for the job. "Right tool for the job" is an important motif for efficent workmanship
I think since its basicaly Suse , they are jumping on the suse numbering.Since the last version of SuSe was 9.2 then NLD 10 is a logical follow up. This also keeps the numbering in good sted with a few of the other distros
You see the unholy trilogy of Perl Python and PHP == PPP which if you turn upside will give you bbb, then add the satanic powers of non compilation and you get a twisting effect turning the bbb to 666... i need more sleep
Scripting languages will always have a place , Its a simple case of the right tool for the job. As a sysadmin most of my Programming is done in either ruby(im difrent) , shell(bash or ksh) or perl. Using C for most of the things i have to automate is as i said "Taking a sledge hammer to a penut" , It would be total overkill and waste my time and the systems and it would be more error prone. If i do have a larger project that requires a bit more power then i can prototype it in perl or shell then easily transcribe it to C. Scripting will always be an important part of my work , and with the increasing power and decresing price of computer equipment over the last few years , it has become viable to program many many things in languages such as python , things which would not so long ago, would have requierd the power of C/++. Scripting is in a fine state , and will continue to fill its end of the market , just as compiled languages will always have their place
Grumpy gamer does not sound like a site to give you a two sided view , The name more says to me "pissed off rants" which is all well and good , but is this slashdot worthy even on the games page. The storys are for the news , these comments are for the opinion , and i am a stickler for unbiased news ( unless in some rare situations)
Well to me it just looks like an updated version of the style in Ocarina of time, I mean seriously the graphics are just like they were with adult link (obviously with 7 years tech improvments). I think the zelda games are some of the best made , and i dont think this new one will disapoint , the main problem here is people have gotten used to the ultra cutsie windwalker type zelda , Ocarina of time had some rather dark graphics in places.Funny to think that i was hearing a great hoohaa about the windwalkers graphics being too cute just a few years back and now were moaning about this being too adult , It looks great and its sure to be a grand game , so lets not judge till we have seen the final trailer(also i think this new trailer looks a bit like the tech demo for the gamecube which i belive was the origional windwalker graphics)
I have no problem with smut and violence (Just read shakspear or most greek mytholigy ) but i like my smut and violence to have a great plot , Fox , Sky,the sun newspaper etc and all the other news corp crap really does not , sure they have some great TV shows ( which i buy on dvd as i dont have a tv able to recive broadcasts , crippled so i dont have to pay a license fee)like the simpsons but the rest of the stuff i have seen is just dire reality TV and shows which make WWE smackdown seem like "the sky at night"(BBC show about astronomy). We do not need more companys churning out games like this , EA does enough of that for the whole world. Another thing which gets me about NEWSCORP is having seen some fox news storys a freind sent me , is how the hell they have not had their license to broadcast taken away , jebus talk about bias and plain all out lies.I thought CNN was bad for that , but after seing Fux news I really did have to wonder how the hell they got away with it , it was not subtle it was out and out lies and bias.
Well having a look at the offers , i think it would be grand if SCI got the deal. They are in the industry and have released a load of classics in their time(gold box , i think this is the same SCI if so then they know a good thing when they see it) so would probably do quite well with the eidos licenses. Though i wouldnt mind if the elevation group won.
The main thing though would be that i would like to see eidos remain an entity , and would be far happier if it stayed EU based and owned , there are far too few EU based publishing houses. SCI is uk based, has experiance in the industry and a combination of SCI and eidos would make them more of a major player in the market. Right now we need more companys with some clout to stop EA buying all the licenses and churing out awfull tripe and clone-me-do games. I dread to think what would hapen if NEWS CORP bought out eidos. News crap are generaly known for owning some of the worst Lowest Commen Denominator newspapers and TV channels in the world(Im just bitter they canceld futurama , well its more than that ) Whilst i would love some great simpsons licensed games(for a change a good one would be nice) , I cant shake the feeling that i would rather limit Rupert murdochs influence rather than extend his reach to games
too true , Channel 5 is one of the worst terrestrial channels,They are offering shows too bad for even them , in a DRM crippled MS proprietry format and for a fee that is three times that to which i would be willing to pay for a good show. All this seems like such a rush job , just so they can say "we were here first", Honestly i would not mind waiting a while longer for someone to do this properly
The very first thing i thought when i read the artical was "hm so symantec are trying to push sales" OS X like every OS has some issues , and any good admin knows where to keep vigilant and up to date with security issues if you need AV for mac http://www.clamxav.com/ will help its a front end for clamAV and alot cheaper and less bloated than symantecs software
I seem to remember whatching a BBC documentry on maggots cleaning wounds around 8 or 9 years ago.The story was fairly identical , although the BBC documentry whos name escapes me , went into far more depth , i belive it was tested in a hospital aswell. I seem to remember the main advantage was the natural anestetic produced by the maggots as they feast on the effected tissue.Extremly gross and would really freak me out i imagine , but its supposed to be amazingly effective and have a far greater rate of recovery.
Speaking as someone who has disphraxia and dyslexia , i have used computers since a very young age to communicate in a litterary form(my handwritting is totaly illegable and my spelling is dire) also i have used it for visual learning. The day it was discoverd when i was in primary 3( about 7 years old) I went from a D student to a straight A student, other students in my class also used computers to learn ( this is back in the mid 1980s).Some of them tended to fool around and just did not get anything done , others like me , found it a great help. I have used them all my life and to me they were and still are invaluable , so i imagine its best to see this as a situation where you just have to have the right tool for the job.;) tell you one thing though , i dont know a single CS student who would be better off without a computer though(except for some things)
Ah memorys , i still have one (box full). You certainly could fire upon it with a Howizer and it would still type but i found its one major weakness , a double esspresso , so incase any crazed sysadmin comes into your office in a suit of IBM Keyboards , you know the only way to stop him is spill esspresso on him
I live in germany , a couple of my inlaws were alive during that time. You know why most of them did nothing,It was because it sliped in slowly , most of the changes were great for the standerd of living and the demonisation of the jewish people was not highly promoted at first so it slipped by most people. The thing is back then to these people Hittler was a hero , he brought them wealth and rebuilt the nation , it was not untill far too late that some people saw his true nature , he marched into checkoslovakia not fighting an oposing army , but to a parade. He was a very evil monster , but a very evil monster who was a hero to the people
The Bush administration may well be a problem or perhaps it is not ( i wont state my opinion here as i dont want to bias people against my point) This in most ways is very very diffrent to Germany 1935,
Yes with both you could bludgeon someone to death , however with the powerbook you could bludgeon in style whilst running OS X and with the sensor you would risk less HDD dammage whilst doing it
yes these new words annoys me , but what annoys me more is companys trying to get stupid patents, "According to a note on Amazon.com, the Plog is a diary-type feature of the users' shopping experience. "]It will help] you discover products that have just been released, track changes to your orders, and many other things. Just like a blog, your Plog is sorted in reverse chronological order. When we think we have something interesting or important to tell you, we'll post it to your Plog.""
So its an information system based on your previous purchases, Im sure many catlog order companys have been doing this for years , with target special offers etc. Plus im sure several advertising companys have with tracking cookies and other forms of spyware , been doing the same thing to provide ads that may intrest the customer/victim
". The EC said the license excluded open-source vendors and charged unjustifiably high royalty fees -- all bad for business."
The EU Gouvernance may be highly flawed in several areas,Though it is not made up of total idiots. I do belive MS really needs to fire its consultants and contract lawyers as Really they should have known this one would get them in trouble.
If you get orderd by a court to comply with an order, you dont start acting like a 3 year old who has had their crayons taken away for drawing on the walls. This is exactly what MS tried to do , basically they are saying "Honestly Mother i wont draw on the walls anymore , i will stick to painting on the floor"
""And this is the same Microsoft whose chairman Bill Gates recently lectured the industry that boosting interoperability "will be the only way for companies to make customers' lives easier"? The very same." He was telling the truth , but i doubt he cares about making our peoples lives easier , only making the proffits and market share larger
you are a troll as the above post stated , Though I shall bite as I see an opertunity to karma whore;) (since when is it karma whoring to post consice informative or insightfull comments , well never mind).
Any faith that activly seeks to increase its membership such as scientoligy / the church of jesus christ of the later day saints etc is evangelical and i dont know one church which is not evangelical in some fashion. Well over the last three weeks or so i have noticed a far greater number of dupes than average. Maybe its the weather
Considering the number of dupes over the past few weeks , i would say "harder than it seems".
