wow..your post is funny, but it made me think of something...imagine that it WAS in a geo-synchronous(sp?) orbit. It would have to be alot closer...can you imagine the tides? and the extra gravity....wow...
actually, Loki games were the only ones that I ever refused to pirate, mostly because I thought (innocently maybe) they were doing the "Right Thing". I always told my friends that asked for them to go buy them.
One of the stats I was looking for in the article and didn't see...I have always wondered how many games Loki sold the day that the first article appeared on/. about them filing Chapter 11. Their ordering page was slashdotted within minutes, and after that for a long time. I had to wait several hours before I could order SimCity3000 (which is now at EB in the mall for $10) @ $30-some. It's pretty easy to believe that they made a LARGE chunk of their profit on that day, if the numbers in the article are accurate.
I'm definatly the same way. My lack of sounding out words leaves me at a loss when it comes to proper nouns that I read. It seems like my brain subconciously assigned variables to people that I read about, so that when I read the sentence "John and Salley went down to the market to buy some bread from Mr. Williams." I get PersonA(male) PersonB(female) market bread-PersonC(older, male). Later in the story, if Mr Williams is mentioned again, then my brain references PersonC from that sentence. I'm not sure what in my formative years made me do this, but it's fascinated me forever. If someone could provide insight or if they do it too, please let me know, it's very interesting.
ok, that MAY be the case (i don't think it is, but but could be), but it's not really likely that the equipment that will record light flashing at this rate is common, and as many people have said there are better ways to get the data. oh well
right, but wasn't this radio signal analogue? With all the equiptment I've had, a light blinks when you send data, and a light blinks when you recieve data. Now, an LED has a fast response..really fast...one reply to my origional post said 8 uSeconds or something. That's pretty feasable, but even if it would blink for every packet you recieved, or even every byte, you still wouldn't know the contents of the bits, or whether it's a one or a zero. I'm still calling BS.
I'm gonna have to call Bullsh*t on this one. I've seen my lights blink, and I don't think that there's any way... I'm throwing in the towell and saying I don't think so....
I really tried to give KOffice a shot, but the place that it couldn't make it was dealing with all the Capitolistic Pig software formats:) .doc from MSOffice made (at least my version of) KWord puke, and I have to export a CSV from KSpread to get Excel to take it. -sigh- i spent SO long on those colors too... anyway, that's why I will buy Star Office if I have to...that and also because M$ doesn't make Office for linux. I have to say honestly, that if they did, I'd probably buy it, just for the compatibility.
I'm too poor to afford one. does that mean I suck??? well, probably...damn:-(
also, I am jealous of people who have G4s...
I think it might be processor-cycle-envy, but I'm not sure...
I can't believe all the negative feedback from this. What is so bad about Microsoft? They aren't for you and me, it is annoying having to delete them off a new computer for someone, and they sugar coat everything, but who cares? If there is one thing that could dramatically change the history of computing and put power back into YOUR hands, this is it. Quit compaining about the best thing that could realistically happen to computing right now.
I think that everyone reading this should get my point. I actually think that this is a Good Thing(tm). The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
yep. I'm only 22 (as if that's really young considering the age of alot of ppl here...i respect them) but i didn't get into computers till high school...I just remember what my first 486 cost, and that it was a good deal considering what else they were selling at the time.
Oh man, thats awesome:) I've often thought about rigging out a step van (ala Sneakers) but I've never had the money, so I'm living vicariously through you. I can't wait to see how this turns out.:)
Real actors often act as projection surfaces for the phantasies of people like Natalie Portman. I doubt that CG actors will do the same, at least they are really artificial.
So wait...you're saying Aki didn't do anything for you in FF? I left the theatre depressed because (unlike Catherine Zeta-Jones) I was attracted to someone who didn't even exist...damn them
How much you want to bet the first person that cracks this secure format lands a 5 year jail sentence and $500,000 to napster?
Maybe that's their business model? A couple of people being caught for DMCA violations, and they've done better than any other DotCom so far. The bastards...it's almost TOO clever...
anyway(replying to the parent of your post), Towers and King are already made, though I bet they are still "tweaking" in post-production. I doubt many directors could leave their yet-to-be-released movie alone...especially for 2 years:)

ok, I'm done
LOL i had to laugh at that....i guess according to the guide above, I'm Hindu/Evolutionist...with a slight twist of Mafia...

hah. was i the only one that read that and thought:
That's no moon. That's a space station.
maybe I'm just odd....
No worse than what Microsoft makes us do...

Not that I disagree, but it's funny because I can remember when $2000 was considered feasable for a new computer. It hasn't been THAT long ago :)

I get the idea that this part of the algorithm is perfected by them...its the decompresser that's giving them fits...
Step 1: Steal Underpants
Step 3: Profit!
We're still working on step 2

Maybe it's the pre-caffeine stage.

If the only thing you'd ever eaten was a Big Mac would you be qualified to rate it as the best meal ever?

lol
I'm yet to figure out what a spoiler would be!
