...But then you have to deal with that nasty signal loss over distances. Even with a 10-foot VGA cable, you can see a LOT of loss in quality. Don't know about keyboards, probably not as vital.
Eric Barch, I would be angry at you for posting a story for the all the multitudes of/. to control this poor man's train, probably causing it (and the server) to crash. Fortunately, it doesn't work!
these blade servers get stolen? Servers full of music might make tempting targets to "pirates." Anyone for night-ops in the basement of the tech building?
Here in Ohio your licence is automatically revoked for at least a year if you refuse a breath test, whether you're found guilty of DUI or not. Yay for guilty until proven innocent...
Arizona - A new open source warbot being tested by the Army was hijacked this morning by a 12 year-old. The perpetrator allegedly downloaded the plans for the robot at sourceforge, and created his own controller. Details at 11.
Being in high school myself, I have also stolen SSN #s and given them back, mainly to convince other students to be more careful. All of the information needed to steal an identity is printed on a 4x6" card, which most students tape into the front of their notebooks. I'm somewhat surprised by the lack of care, but at the same time, I'm not. By an odd coincidence, I'm also the only student tech, and I've found all sorts of lovely information on the servers accessibly to anyone. Identities waiting to be stolen:S
Rather, the voting method seems to affect the relative turnout of different voter demographies.
Meaning: more/.ers who couldn't vote with a lever due to lack of muscle mass could now vote with the added bonus of it being on a computer!
"Although the amount of energy produced in this initial experiment was miniscule (~1E-8 jules), this technology could be used for things like microthrusters."

So, to get a good amount of energy, you'd need a beowulf cluster of these?
Even more off-topic, but on in IT, are there any small LCDs with "normal" computer monitor hookups?
I always thought it'd be useful to see if headless boxes (fileserver in the basement?) were alive without lugging around a full-size monitor.
"Actually, what they don't say is the Disco floor will light rhythmically to DDR steps, allowing even the REALLY geeky to appear as though they have a mild amount of dancing talent!"
Am I the only one who thought "wtf does memory have to do with dancing?"
Really geeky, no dancing talent.
You go to the gas station with your Prius and a long extension cord, plug it in around back, and shop around the gas station while "filling up."
Until an employee on a smoke break sees you sneaking around with an extension cord, of course...
What I'm saying is that it seems that a lot of supporters of OSS (including myself) like mostly everything to be free on the internet, copyrighted or not.
What I probably shoud've said is:
Free Exchange -O- Information = Good Thing

Really, shouldn't fans be obvious on /.?

Slightly off-topic... What if Google started a service called GDog? It could be "ghetto for dummies" or a pet store...or a ghetto pet store!

It had better have a frickin laser mounted on its head!

Did you take the time to look for them?
Obviously, Google doesn't have the past homepages on their uberservers. RIP

Why isn't DNA in the Hall of Fame? ...or are they waiting for the End Of The Universe?

Not funny, insightful. This must surely go along with "The State of the Open Source Union, 2004" Free Software = Good Thing Free Music = Good Thing
"the open source development model remains a mysterious process on which large technology companies struggle to capitalize."
how do you capitalize on free/open source?
