I suspect it will be compulsory for immigrants too
And how do you prove the identity of someone who jumps out of the back of a truck? Many asylum seekers destroy their papers to make it more difficult to send them back. Some have had them confiscated by their own governments, or have genuinely lost them. In all those cases, we have to take their word for it.
The other option is to not issue cards to undocumented foreigners. But that idea will get knocked on the head quicker than you can say "human rights act".
A perfect solution (at least till someone brings a human rights suit). Nonetheless, most people will see that as the exception, rather than the rule. It's certainly been a long while since I've worked anywhere that had formal clocking in and out.
It's measuring with two sizes (if that's even a valid expression) if people -are- allowed to have their watercooler breaks, but aren't allowed to have a 'game-break'.
What about smokers? I guess they must spend an extra hour per day away from their desks.
How can you evaluate if the reasons are compelling enough, without knowing how compelling they are? And what if the developers measure compellingnessocity in metric units but you use imperial?
Not only do biologists not have all the answers... they don't always even agree with each other.
You say that like it's a bad thing.
Science doesn't need all the answers, and it isn't a problem to change your mind. When a theory outlives its usefulness, it's replaced with a better one. Science is based on understanding; unlike dogma, it doesn't crumble if the mask of infallibility slips.
Many years ago, one of my teachers gave me some advice. It was, "Don't use ad-hominem attacks, you little git."
I suppose I should write every sentence as if it were going to be reviewed by the masses and recorded for all time. That way, when some pretentious ass hat like yourself takes the debate completely off topic to trade literary barbs, I know I would be on the winning side.
That's right, cling to the hope. You could equally just shut up.

You can have a high BMI without necessarily being fat, though. Sportsmen (especially in contact games like Rugby) are often - by the formula - obese. BMI doesn't factor in build.

I eat about 2,000 calories a day
Most people can gain weight by only eating 2000 calories a day. I guess my nick is a clue how...

I guess that if there had been several mice, each with a separate, independant cursor, then it might well have been necessary to do so.
Whatever. Like, get over it or something.
Whenever I see the word javascript, I think "which one?".
Bill? Is that you?
Yeah, sorry if I came across as having a dig at you. Let's just say that I've been there and have the t-shirt - it hides the scars pretty well.

If by "6-month consulting engagement" you meant a freelance gig, then frankly you're a bit naive believing any promise of how long it will go on.
So what language should a company that sells paper use?

How can you set a standard for legacy systems? Is there a perl module Timetravel::KillGraceMurrayHopper or something?

Hey you, down in the hole, want me to drop you another shovel? Looks like you've worn that one out.
I'm sure your calculation is correct. Just not in base 10.
