OK, they may have names, but as I said you go to the store and you don't know what you are getting. And that is what this post was about, do people get it.
If I sign in to Verizon wireless and say I want an Android phone I can see LG Ally, DROID INCREDIBLE by HTC, DROID X by MOTOROLA, DROID 2 by MOTOROLA, Samsung Fascinate a Galaxy S phone, etc.
There is one Moto phone that says "with Motoblur". None of the other ones say anything. And no where does it even tell me what version of Android that phone is running.
The problem is they aren't naming their distros, they are all called Android. You go to the store, but an Android phone and have no idea which one your getting.
I don't think its even close. 165/sec lets say from 8am to 8pm is 7,128,000. Around 1.5 million people in Manhattan. So that would be saying every single man, woman, and child in the Manhattan send 4.75 text messages a day.
I don't understand the mixing and matching of components. If they were going to run a windows server OS they should have just run IIS and SQL Server. If your going to your Unix then go with apache and oracle.
You appeal on a specific point from the original trial, you aren't just saying I want the case to be heard agian.
For example, if you think a piece of evidence was collected unlawfully you could appeal on that point. If the appellate court decides in your favor, they tell the lower court to re-decide/re-hear the case without that piece of evidence.
I think its important to see the distinction between something like Kazaa and BitTorrent. Kazaa is somewhat centrally, they are sending advertisments down to all of the users. They know exactly who their users are, and are very capable of seeing their searches as well. BitTorrent the author is completely seperate from the process. He has no clue who is using his software
I think that because of Kazaas connection to all users, it would be rather simple for them to make some kind of attempt to block searches to known copyrighted material. Everyone needs to hop off of their free-data high horses for just a minute and realise this is a company knowingly making money off the work of others without giving them anything
If you don't have any technical knowledge, how do you promote the right people, ones who push the organization towards more technical skill and greater efficiency?
Thats the point of them being a manager. They know who gets to work earliest in the morning. Who takes the most number of sick days. If we are talking about IT, who closes the most tickets for week ( good indication of efficency ). Who meets all the milstones they set to as to down certain tasks of a big project should be done.
This is the managers job, and doesnt require any technical knowledge.
I completely agree. It's important to distinguish between someone like a team leader and a manager.
In a larger organization this is very easy. The bottom level IT guy or programmer will have a team leader directly above him with direct knowledge of what his team works on. As the levels go up, less IT skills and more manager skills.
Unfortunary, in a smaller shop you will always hit the full blown manager with less hops up the tree.
I think that human intelligence, and maybe the intelligence of many other species, defies the our idea of Evolution from being completely true.
If evolution is not random you are then saying there must be a discernable pattern. But what if a group of people completely physicaly and intellectualy inferior get a batch of guns and kill eveyone else on a remote island and take over. They are the surviors, how does that fit into evolution at all?
Evolution can't account for behavior. And behavior is the driving force of who lives and who dies in todays world.
What's the point of all this? No matter how you mess around with the DST, you won't get a single minute of daylight that you didn't have before.
Its not the amount of daylight, Its when you are awake, the percentage of the day that it is light out.
Lets say you goto sleep at 10PM every night. If it gets dark at 6PM all the lights in your house are on for 4 hours. If it gets dark at 7PM instead, thats an hour less electricy used. On the flip side the sun coming up at 6AM instead of 5AM won't matter because most people are asleep then anyway.
I don't think its so difffernt from the Republican party today.
"Attacking Federalist policies, he opposed a strong centralized Government and championed the rights of states."...from your link
Thats pretty much exactly what the Republican party says today. If states want to ban abortion, sodomy, gay marriage, let them, the federal government shouldn't be interfering....
Its less of requiring them to provide a service, and more of allowing parents to moderate the service they receive.
If someone gets cable, they can choose whether they get movie channels that have R-rated content. Most cable boxes allow passwords to be put on individual channels.
On the other hand, if you want a high speed internet connection, you probably have a choice of from the one cable company, or the one dsl provider in your area. And both of these choices give you no way to restrict anything. Its all or nothing.
The government is simply saying, if you are providing internet service, give people a way to restrict access without them having to go out and buy addiontal software.
If one of these friends sent them a link and they blindly clicked on, which I'm sure is the explaination alot of them gave, thats pretty much just doing something random they were told without thinking it through.
Maybe the kid that figured it out gets to stay, and the rest are out... That would be funny.
Sorry... posted the other one in the wrong spot...
Isn't telling the airlines to not accept ids that don't meet certain standards, regulating the airlines?
I didn't see anything creating a national ID. Its putting requirements on the state, when state grants a drivers license, that the state must follow if they want the federal government to accept licenses the grant as valid ids for things under federal jurisdiction. Things like airplanes...
Prolonged exposure to almost anything emitting any kind of energy will lead to cancer in the long term. Its just the effect of the electromagnetic specturm on cells. Although standing in the sun is more dangerous then using a cell phone constatnyl because visible light is at a higher frequency.
It could just as easily result in people listening to less music...
And if that happens the RIAA is going to have to suck it up. Recording companines will have to look for some real original talent instead of all the pop crap, and maybe we will get better music out of it. By violating copyrights because you want something, but don't think its worth the money they are charging, isn't the answer.
I'm not saying they did anything criminal. They are civilly liable for violating a copyright.
The orginal person said Sharing != Stealing. But what they are doing isn't "Sharing", they aren't passing a single copy around between friends. Someone hosting a file is making additional copies for anyone that wishes, of something that is copyrighted. For me it seems pretty clear.

Yes they do. If I buy the truck there is nothing that Ford can do if I install a GM engine in it.
Ford can say that putting a GM engine in it voids your warranty and refuse to service it in their shops.

and copyright infringement is less of a crime then theft?
Its still illegal.

Thats how the legal system is. Almost every law includes a culpable mental state... whether its knowing, intentionaly, recklessly, or negilence.

And I don't see how its wrong to up the standards a bit with the invention of all this new technology that we love, such as RFIDs.

I do too. All these people downloading illegal material is bringing all this attention to P2P and messing it up for any legitamate users.
