Isn't being geeky "in" now? Im in highschool, and a lot of girls here wear shirts that say like "I 3 nerds/geeks/etc" or wear the thick black glasses. However, none of them really are geeky, nor do they love me:(.
Many players can effectively micro-manage units, while playing fastest. I don't see how slowing the map down so you can micro-manage easier makes you more skilled.
People say competition is good for consumers, but it really just pisses me off. All these companies try so hard to be the first person that develops something, that they make it before it's useful. Cool people wait until stuff is obsolete and then buy it.

Wearables haven't become popular because the people that would possibly use wearables realized that rather than wearing an expensive computer, they can wear armor or a startrek uniform and still look like just as much of a jackass.
The average starcraft player doesn't play ladder for the reason that ladder games are locked in the "fast" speed. If you ever choose the ladder filter for the games list, you'll be lucky if you see one game listed. The major korean starcraft tournaments are played in the fastest mode, and i guess blizzard finally caught on.

Unfortunately all of my hamster powered machines have had incredibly ugly results.

In car PC's are a reality. But having a monitor in your shades definitely isn't a great idea.
