    Um, that's just a head unit that runs android. Entirely different than having ur car hooked into your phone with all your info, email, web, msgs, updates, data connection, high end processor, photos, media content, incoming calls, etc...with an OEM warranty and blessing.

    don't u think that now that apple has car companies building standardized dumb consoles calling their apis that it will build momentum that will pave the way for a standard that others can follow?

    it won't take but a few lines of code for manufacturers to call a google or msft api instead of an apple api, and these companies will be smart to configure their os in the car software to drive the same dumb hardware.

    Not at all. They didn't reveal any hardware.

    They revealed SOFTWARE that is smart enough to allow car manufacturers to leverage iOS with crap hardware that only has to stream video and return touch coordinates through some simple APIs.

    It's cool stuff. It should have been pushed out 2 yrs ago, but I don't think anyone else is doing this right now.

    The US Navy Next Generation Destroyer (which was deployed last yr) has no real crew, just a few officers to command it. Maintenance is done by robot when out at sea, and in dock as needed.

    we're all being recorded already without our express permission. bars, restaurants, businesses, public venues, roads, airports...all record. Even worse, these video feeds are often being processed with facial recognition software for tracking purposes.

    I would never treat employees that way.

    If a career was just about money, at least half the jobs out there would never get filled. Artists wouldn't create. Teachers wouldn't teach. Open source developers would all get jobs at Accenture. No one would work for the government or a non-profit. And everyone would work for the highest bidding company.

    Some other things that matter: life balance, interesting work, good management, respect for your company/product, coworkers, city, flex time, vacation time, work environment, travel, stability, ethics, fairness, impact...

    I'd never hire someone with your attitude. Someone who puts money above all else is not the kind of person I want to be around or to employee. Even if your asking salary was well within my budget.

    Don't take a pay cut to go to the smaller company. If they really value you, they'll at least match your salary or compensate you with equity accordingly. If they can't do that, be concerned.

    OTOH, I could recommend taking a pay cut to go from a small unstable fast paced company to a larger more stable better work-life balance company. Kind of the opposite situation of what you're asking.

    It's not just religious references, it's religious justification of American exceptionalism. Or as Dylan sang, the notion that we have god on our side.

    But interesting point, maybe we should offer it at 18 yrs old. If you want to vote and have rights, etc, then pledge your allegiance to the country.

    Yes, it seems crazy and all, and is likely false, but it is this kind of crazy thinking that leads us to paradigm shifts...so I don't mind the speculation...as long as it's handled with care by the rest of us.

    When I interviewed for my current job, I told them I worked 40 hrs a wk in my prior job and that if they were expecting more than 45 hrs a wk from me than it wouldn't a good fit. I've since been there a long time and I've rarely worked over 40 hrs and never over 45 hrs.

    As an American, I'd rather work 40hrs/wk and would happily take a lower salary to do so. Wish it was feasible (without working for myself, which in and of itself wasn't even an option until Obamacare passed due to the inability to get healthcare coverage for myself + family). So many people I know would consider this lazy. But it's not. It's just another way to live. A better way, in my opinion.
