Seems like the article makes a logical leap that erasing memories will somehow help ease chronic pain. How so? Does the memory of the pain cause new pain of a similar sort to become more intense? Don't make me RTF just because the summary is making unsupported statements.
The 9 satellites are expected to fly in a lose formation based on political and trade cooperation. If any satellite fails, the mission will fail. Each satellite will manage it's own fuel, but always report that it's got plenty of fuel, until the moment that it has none.:)
Will be interesting to see how this affects admissions...as High Schoolers will likely be trying to take courses in advance of their application to MIT (or other schools for that matter) and will then reference these courses and the grades they received in their application.
Hey, maybe it's a better admission criterium than GPA or SAT?
It's not enough that we ship our jobs overseas....but now we need to make sure that they're good jobs for those who get the jobs. I'm all for protecting workers...but the irony is thick.
It's like saying, let's cut funding for the development of a self powered carriage (a car!) because we need to allocate our money towards hey and iron shoes for our horses. Cutting research is like shooting yourself in the foot - or head.
It's not about pet projects. It's about ROI. Investing aggressively in R&D, especially when the economy is stalled is not only good for economic recovery, but it helps us to create a better place to live. The return on investment is massive. Think the Internet, GPS, combustion engine, weather prediction, antibiotics...and that's just the current stuff. Wait until you see how current research get's used 5 yrs or 10 yrs out. China understands this and they will be the next Super Power if we don't keep pace with them.
Is interpol supposed to decide which laws it should up hold? Or is it a police force that can assist when a person has committed a serious crime before fleeing his country of origin? Not rhetorical, just don't know where the boundaries are.
For me, it's not the price difference per se, often the price can be reasonably competitive.
It's the social aspect of shopping online that seals the deal. I don't feel comfortable buying anything these days without seeing a rich set of reviews on the item, seeing where it falls within a bestseller list (i.e. Amazon), when it was released to the market, and comparison prices so that I know I'm not getting taken on price.
Dude, I don't know what economy you're referring to, but in the tech world, we can't hire fast enough. There are way more positions open than people to fill them. I'm constantly getting cold calls from reputable companies asking me to leave my job and go work for them. My friends in the industry are getting the same. I even know of a several people who have quit their high paying jobs to start their own companies.
The whole bad economy bull shit is for non-techies.

Ironically, I think most people buying this are buying it to run in a VM on their Macbook Pro. :)
I'm assuming you don't have kids.
In these digital times, everyone can have everything.
I don't understand how you managed to generate all this meaningless text from my satirical post above.
Nonetheless....I am particularly impressed with your claim that
LOOSENESS and PRIVACYNESS could be compatible.

Yes, but people who witness crimes may be old enough to remember.

Soon there will be a new type of legal defense...the god-particle told me to do it, your honor.
for most people, the difference between 0% and 99% certainty is not relevant when it comes to believing that something exists.

I think "whee...time to start commenting on Slashdot!"
I only think "uh oh" if my manager walks by.
Because prosecution of thought crimes requires thoughtless order following.

On Kickstart...the crowd is the Kickstopper.
Shit goes nowhere without money.
Even if you can "refill" your "tank" every night with zero effort?
Do you drive 300+ miles every day?
I bet a 200 mile/charge range will meet people's needs for 95% of the population
The cards you get dealt in life are always luck (i.e. money/brains/temperament/drive/health/family). Then it's what you make of your luck.

I buy a console because I know that it's $300/$400 upfront and I'm good for 5 years.
If I thought I'd be spending $100/$200 every yr or two thereafter, I wouldn't shell out the $300/$400 upfront.
Its the stability of the platform that's attractive to me.
Not in the rest of the world. This is how they buy phones.
