    I only put the OS partitions on the SSD, /boot /root /usr /usr/local and /var. that way it boots & loads large software very quickly. my /home stays on a spinning magnetic disk. Yes, I back up regularly to trivial to replace the SSD.

    the japanese do have an 'r' sound distinct from 'l', but it is pronounced in a manner halfway between the english 'l' and 'r' sound. an english speaker could start to make the 'l' sound, but make the tongue stop short of the roof of the mouth, almost in the position for the letter 'd'

    prop plane flying in special circles could keep a weight at end of winchable cable relatively stationary to ground. this method was used to take and deliver mail at remote locations, and at stunt shows to pick up and leave a stuntman.

    you are funny, most Mint users are fleeing from Unity.

    Unity is great for people who don't want to see more than one window at once, or only run one app, or are working on a giant tablet using their knees, elbows and forehead. The rest of us want the results of over two decades of UI improvement that continues to evolve, i.e. not Unity but one of the many polished alternatives.

    you have a very naive viewpoint, most the ones not in the 70 to 90 percent which are slaves are are acting out of desperation. there is thus no such "control", your view of a prostitute is a fantasy.

    The tests are culturally biased but on average asian people score over 10% higher than white people, while blacks score over 10% lower.

    I'm bringing this up because I'll bet over half of slashdotters can't have a rational discussion on these facts.

    but NASA is exploring new frontiers and fundamental science, the fundamental laws of physics, including exotic matter, general relativity, gravity's mechanisms.

    And even in the realm of traditional engineering, what about for example the "sky crane" system employed to put the latest rover on Mars? that is leading and bleeding edge of several fields.
