So I take it that your chinese name is Won Hung Low?
7x5.5 actually life size for me right now. I used to be a little shorter but then I discovered jelqing. Amazing stuff. In 12 months, I've added about 1/3"L and 3/16"G. I expect to be at my goal of 7.25x6 in about 12 to 15 more months. Lot of good info at Thunders place. It's free. Most men can add 1/2" to 1"L and 1/8 to 1/4G over the course of a few years.
While I agree that neither party is good now or in the past 15 to 25 years...
The democrats tell you up front they are the party of big government.
The republicans swore to be the party of small government and wise fiscal spending until they got in power.
Then everyone of them (including reagan) colluded with the democrats to spend like drunken sailors.
Now "conservative" only means that they don't want my sweety to stick something up my butt.
---
However you have a good point that the democrats tell us they are going to be the party of free speach and then they support some of the most insidious anti-free speach provisions in the history of the country.
Not everyone understands how much we depend on celebrity spending to entertain us.
If everyone can just send 50 cents a day to these celebrities they can keep spending on drugs and creating scandals by leaving their underwear at home. Please.. reach down inside yourself and find the will to give 50 cents a day to the industry so they can continue to have wild parties, cars worth five times your annual salary, world travel, and rehabilitation for various kinds of substance abuse that would put you in prison for a decade.
When you think about it, 50 cents a day isn't much to give you someone to fantasize about being, or becoming, or gossiping about.
The reason it flies now is most people do not really pay full price for office and do not realize microsoft plans to put office on a rental basis with subscription fees.
OOo now opens even my most complicated documents. It's free. I don't prefer it yet but I'm headed that way. There will be a day in the next few years when I leave office behind except for work.
If the police would ignore moral issues and only enforce them when they rise to the level that police personally observe them, then most people would not mind a very orwellian society.
What gives us the creeps is when they start finding out we have deviant sexual practice "17". Society gets by pretending that most people are very vanilla when in reality probably 85% of us do something deviant that we would be ashamed of if it were broadcast nation wide. And we would feel smothered if unable to do whatever that echo of childhood we felt compelled towards.
But the ideal police force that really did ignor moral crimes and focused hard on murder, robbery, etc. would probably be given carte blanche. Unfortunately, once it was, then it has power that someone wants to use to enforce their morality (the small govt. republicans just can't resist growing the government to enforce their particular morality). The latest here in the states is not being allowed to sell plastic in some eastern state if it happens to be shaped too much like a body part. So a realistic vibrator is forbidden while a "soothing massage wand" that is 7" long and 1.5" thick is okay. Classic freedom of speech issue.
What's best about SOM is that the external authorities can determine how fast they want you to drive at any time. With SOM came the end of high speed chases and the ability to run red lights. Of course, there was that day the red light was stuck and so of course, I had to wait in my car for 7 hours until a maintenance crew got out to fix the light. But that's all part of our government controlling our lives and keeping us safe. It's a lovely world to be a submissive type it. So wonderfully... constricting.
Most of my friends know that I torrent but mostly all feel it is wrong. Even to the extent of getting an episode that I missed last night- or getting things that are not even for sale at any price.
OTH, my daughter and her friends tell me about cool torrent sites. It may be a generational thing.
It's not bad. It's not painkiller jane- but it's not bad.
basically keep the regenerating heroine, drop the origin story (too rough for TV) and replace it with a completely new background.
Take the universe she was in and chuck that. Put her in "normal world with no other heroes".
Add a new group of side characters with a new mission (Fight Neuros) that she joins.
--- Plus points. The actress is executive producer and so she is really pushing herself hard and it shows. She's doing a bang up job of acting her heart out. There SEEMS to be an interesting subversive undercurrent. Everything is not what it seems on the surface.
Minus points. Very cliche'd computer guy character. Other characters fairly cliche'd too. But hopefully with time they will grow more unique. Mostly a bunch of "types" right now.
---
I'll put it this way- the show is not amazing but nothing else is successfully holding my interest this year. Lost, Heroes, etc... I watch a couple shows and go "eh". Painkiller Jane and Dexter-- I tune in for.
That's it. I can put them in and they will take the machine back to base state. On one of my machines I do not even have that. All I have is a hidden sector/partition on the disk that I can "restore" from. Oh joy.
the pirated versions of windows I ran (win2k), I had full install disks. the oem versions (win98, winxp, winxp) I bought at best buy and other places, my only option is to wipe everything and reinstall.
So, I would be screwed on the machines where I am a legitimate paying customer, and hunky dory on the machines where I was pirating.
There are times in Full Metal Complex on the Cartoon Network where the translation differs from the fansubs AND it clear that the "official" translation is wrong and the fansubs were right. Without the fansubs, I would have never known just what the heck they really said there since the official translation was just goofy. I bet that it is a literal transalation of an idiom that the translater didn't know.
I think you are ignoring your costs. You need a computer. You need blank DVD's. You need to spend the time and risk to acquire a copiable version of the software. You need to spend at least 15 to 20 minutes of your time (more if the burn is bad).
There is a price at which they make a profit and it is not worth your time and effort to copy it.
You don't make your own clothes. You don't make your own cars. heck, most of us don't even cook our own food any more most meals. Why should you be makiing your own DVD's? Because an artificial monopoly has raised the costs to unrealistic levels compared to the cost of manufacture.
And now, the legal prices of booze are so low that there is no reason to make illegal booze.
There is a lot of reason to copy a $20 movie ($35... $70 in some cases). There is absolutely no reason to copy a $5.50 movie.
The movie company makes a lot less profit- but they still make a profit and anyone who pirates their movie is so clearly desperate for cash that the movie company isn't losing a dime on them.
While I am shocked... shocked. The fact is, what I downloaded sounded good enough to keep me coming back for more business. The nature of the product means if they had cheated so that I could see it then I would have stopped.
The other guy is right. College is very important and sets the course of the rest of your life. Some colleges literally make the difference of being friends and frat/sorority members with powerful people or lower level managers or corporate drones.
To skip it because of some short term reason is really very foolish. But then again- that's self selecting. The people who are going to succeed are going to do whatever it takes to do so. The rest will complain that they didn't succeed later-- when they are 30 or 40 and start to see the huge compounding those little mistakes and decisions they made in their early 20's are having.
I've really liked allofmp3. I like the ability to choose what I pay based on the bandwidth I want. If I want, I can even get a 25mb raw version of the song.
For Mp3's the pricing is about.25 a song which I consider a reasonable price via download. $1 a song is just not reasonable.
Fact is tho- at this point we should have DVD's that sell for $20 bucks that have every song up to the late 50's that's out of copyright.
The 400's pricing is very artificial (just like Vista's new licensing restrictions on virtualization). It's about money- not about any underling increase in costs on IBM's part.
The 400's reliability however-- is very real. If I ever have a large enough system that has to "just work", it goes on the 400. Stuff that only has to work 99% of the time- that's okay for PC's.
However, IBM is decimating their own ranks by offshoring and outsourcing their AS/400 customers. It earns them some money now for service contracts but it raises the cost of every other customer owning an AS/400 because fewer and fewer people want to work on them. IBM basically reduced our 400 employees from about 150 to 2 by taking over running our stuff. The results have been poor so far. A lot of pissed off customers because the 400's are not getting personal attention but instead getting 1/70th of one of IBM's operators (who is really relying on Patrol to send a warning message). I mean- why work on a 400 when IBM is going to come after your job? Focus your efforts on jobs where the vendor isn't actively trying to reallocate you to the curb.
Coffee filters are about.5 cents each so I buy 200 "Brew Rite" filters and I put 3 heaping spoonfuls in one of them and staple it close (making a kind of tea bag) and then I hook a paper clip to the staple.
Then I fill a cup with hot water from the coffee machine (failing that I fill a cup and microwave it to boiling).
Then I make my coffee like tea- dipping the bag and taking it in and out of the water until it is ready.
I can also let the coffee bag steep for a while until it is cool enough to drink.
My poison of preference is medium roast folgers. I'm told "brown gold" is a very good premium like coffee for only about $15 a can. I pay $6 for mine for 2 pounds ($3 a pound). I can't imagine what they pay for the dark roast they provide for free because it is not as good as $6 coffee.
It looks like these are mostly theories about facts rather than new facts tho.
I'm suspicious of the entire group think around global warming but on the other hand, I've seen a major climate shift in my life time. It's very clear in texas. Longer, milder winter/falls. We used to have a six week winter. Now we have about 5 days a year of winter. OTH, it used to be bloody hot in may and now it is very mild until june.
So it's not straight average warming but it is a big change.
So I take it that your chinese name is Won Hung Low?

Someone really needs to read them the story of the golden goose.
Hard to believe they are even considering this option.
Okay calm down man.. calm down.

Don't panic!
It's easy to loose perspective given the persistant grammar errors.

Cry Havoc! and set lose the dogs of war!
The issue is really morality.

They screwed up my name and then said there was no way they could fix it- it would be permanently mispelled.
Ever since then, I've used yahoo, and hotmail. I probably have four or five hotmail accounts. One being the "throwdown" account for spammers.

To be fair- the average slashdotter has probably been arguing copyright law here (and lawyers are in the mix) for several years.
So they at least more aware than the average populace.
Of course some are complete loons or in denial of the actual law.
Nope.

I never trust cost savings estimates by business leaders.
They get raises, bonuses and promotions based on cheery estimations and then leave before the full costs come home to roost.
Still- linux should be a lot less expensive so they have a chance of saving *some* money.
Didn't see the debunking of the global warming on Mars and the moons of the outer planets in our solar system occuring now too.
That's one piece of fairly strong counter-evidence to human causes.
