This particular section of Steve's presentation dealing with the War On Terror doesn't appear on the US-developed Tech.Ed DVDs -- it was censored and removed.

Why? We need an open discussion and censoring based on policy only illustrates an agenda that creates more questions.

Also most music was blatantly stolen. Most Irish jigs are variations of other jigs, and so on. Most of music's evolution is based on the original freedom and freeness the music had.

Just like the fashion industry today! The fashion industry is (almost) entirely based on the copying of ideas (i.e. the "hot" color this season etc.) It seems to be doing fine.

What happened to "Fair Use"? If there's a relevant passage in a book, can I not quote it? Is Viacom complaining about entire episodes or just small portions. For example, if there's a bit about John Stewart ripping on D. Chaney, I don't see the difference between that and quoting a Shakespeare soliloquy (well... one is written better...)

Besides, if it's a good bit, wouldn't I want to see more? Isn't that free advertising?

    I agree.

To say that humans have not changed the environment is naive. For example, look around you right now... I'll wait... Can you even _see_ a plant?

In nature, if we're in a place with no plants we're either in 1) desert 2) snow/ice 3) a cave. None of these locations are conducive to our existence.

To say that the human race has not impacted the Earth's ecosystem is like saying the sky is not blue (wait... what about smog? :)

I've discovered a few podcasts that showcase new music, and you can purchase that music (almost) directly from the musician via their website.

Why support and implicitly condone the actions of the "music industry"? There's plenty of good music out there, we should not have to use payola-centric radio etc. to find it.

Now we have an alternative to the traditional music distribution system, there has to be a change. Suing the customer does not seem like much of a change.
