I agree with and sympathize with your situation. The only thing I'd like to point out is that you don't have to isolate yourself or refuse to go out with friends and family--just make better food choices. Order a salad or an appetizer for your meal. At the pot-luck, get smaller portions of each thing you really want, and fruit or something for dessert. If you look you can find it. Please don't isolate yourself because of the way you look. If they're real friends, your physical appearance won't matter to them and they'll treat you the same.

Kudos for your weight loss so far--keep it up! Every bit of exercise you do makes your heart stronger and your body healthier.

You're completely right, nobody always has 100% correct information. But since it can be edited by anyone, it can be quickly corrected by someone else, or several someone elses. Ideally this would be the way to get a close-to-perfect repository of information.

Granted, there are some subjects that will never be presented objectively (in fact it could be argued that, as imperfect humans our bias, however small, will color anything we present, no matter how trivial or seemingly un-emotional). And there are always extremists on many issues that will ensure that nothing close to unbiased stays on display.

    But it's pretty darn close.

And I hate to reply to myself, but I just have to mention this:

    From the article,

Microsoft's Windows Vista has increased their market share steadily every month while their main opponent, Mac OS X, has remained essentially flat.

If OSX's use was dropping as Vista was being taken up, that would be a cause for concern. As it stands now though, nobody is switching from OSX to Vista, and that'd be the important number, right? Basically, Microsoft users are upgrading, Mac users are happy with what they have. When Apple comes out with a new OS, you'll be able to compare it's new users to Vista's at the time and see much higher numbers from that camp.

...the hell? I was just pointing out a trend over the past few decades or so. For example, violence in schools going up as they got rid of prayer in schools, and then the moment of silence after the pledge of allegiance, and now I'm not even sure they do the pledge anymore. Things like that. You can get as angry as you want but I'm just looking at facts. I never said I was a proponent of any particular religion. It depends on a few factors--a lot of them are simply how many hits you get in the level--over a certain number will take you to the "hard" route versus the "easy" one. Others depend on certain factors in the game, some of which are really tricky to figure out. I got almost all of them without the strategy guide I ended up stealing--er, borrowing from my brother. If you're really interested, we can talk about it, or I'm sure you can find it online somewhere (Google knows all!). Let me know! It's a lot of fun. :)

Good call, I agree. I recently gave up my own cable--I realized I may as well one day when I went in to turn on the Xbox and noticed that I never had to change the channel to Input from the regular station. Come to think of it, I hadn't had to change it last time I played...or the time before that...geez, when was the last time I watched something?

The only thing I ever really watch is football, and I can see that at someone else's house or a sports bar. I'm not paying for cable every month to use a few channels for one season out of the year.

That being said, I don't have a MySpace page either. (I went once and the idiocy-to-coherency ratio was way beyond my tolerance capacity.) I'd say the internet in general is reducing the need for TV, though. It's all about convenience these days anyway, and if people can download shows and watch them whenever they want instead of that show's designated spot of time, which option do you suppose is going to gain more popularity?
