All they had to do is contract with a US Military contractor. Bath for example. They'd have a nice ship. US Ships seem to last around 75 years. Korean Krap, around 40 if you're lucky.

Of course, not that Canada even needs a Navy. They have a bunch of guys just to the south that'll make sure nothing happens to them. Matter of fact, they should just petition the US Government to become say 20 more US States. It really makes sense for both sides. Then you can get rid of your wussy prime minister. I'm embarrassed for Canada he's so bad. Sorry if he's not a he anymore. I understand you can go to jail in Canada for not using the right pronoun. How screwed up.

Not that this is to say the US is much better. The socialism cancer is spreading.

So you're comparing a WW I ship that had been converted to a modern war ship? Are you going to make an excuse for a Mercedes not being wonderful because an American Model T had a problem too? That's what I think I'm hearing.

I'm shocked by this. So much for "German Engineering." Not that they aren't great engineers. I just can't imagine this happening this day in age. We have computers, we have simulations, we have all kinds of stuff they didn't have in WWII and they can't even make a ship that's acceptable? I'm an Engineer and it's hard to even describe the feeling. Shock, horror, sympathy I suppose. Glad I'm not involved with that effort.

Maybe they can fix it. They could offer to make the German ships target practice for the British Navy. They're good at sinking German ships.

We also need to mandate recycling. It was a stupid Carter administration decision to not recycle nuclear material. They thought if the US didn't do it, other countries wouldn't do it and that would stop nuclear proliferation. Of course other countries like France, Japan saw right through that and recycled anyway. The rest of the world isn't as stupid as Carter thought.

  20. Oh. I didn't think he was this far along already. Sure, if I were him - hell yes. There are other spacecraft out there, however nobody knows who built them. Nobody else has one of their cars in an orbit that will be out there for billions of years. It'll outlast the human race unless someone figures out how to retrieve it. Sounds like the plot for a Simpsons episode with aliens.

  21. Cool! Doesn't sound staunchly to me. Very matter of fact.

I imagine he'll have that framed in his office.

  22. It would be no big deal. The Saturn V rocket had around a million parts, possibly slightly more than a million parts to it. It could be done in less than a year while improving it. Some things like the F-1 engine itself I wouldn't even change. It was perfect as it is. Don't mess with it just to mess with it (damnit). They were all hand made by the way so every one of them was unique. They were truly a work of art made by incredible men.

One thing is for sure, they had a hell of a ride. As a kid (while this was going on) I wanted to do it. After being at the visitors center, walking through the very same arm they did to get into the capsule to go to the moon and being in a mock up of a capsule..... No thanks. I know how insane what they were doing is now. The power of the computers at the time... and so on. If everything went right you're fine. If anything went wrong, you're done. So much could happen in just the first part of the flight before they clear the tower. A wind could have pushed them into the tower and then we'd have a spectacular explosion.

Now there is getting to be so much trash in orbit we may not even be able to get to the moon safely anymore.
