Yes, it is possible to laugh at one's self; don't be so defensive. Just because somebody isn't licking your country's ass doesn't mean they're trying to overthrow the government.
Nope; a screener is actually a DVD rip from one of these preview DVDs and are often considered the best quality. A camera snuck inside a threatre where the audio is taken from the Hearing Aid port on certain chairs is called a TeleSync and somebody sneaking a camera in there with a microphone is called something similar, although the exact name escapes me at the moment.
I can honestly say I've never heard of a PC watercooling unit leaking onto a motherboard, and I tend to be quite active in Overclocking and Modding circles. This is basicly becuase everybody is so scared of this obvious danger that they take extreme steps to make sure it isn't going to happen. I would imagine however, that if it moved from a niche market into the mainstream, the resulting drop in quality control in order to push down prices becuase of competition would end up in some nasty accidents.
Microsoft has actually had MSN Music out for a long time now, URGE is their second effort. When you have as much money as MS has you can affort to botch the marketing the first time and then try again with one of the world's biggest brands onside.
The site is actually down, which is a shame; it would have been a nice oppurtunity to see if we could get Zonk thrown in jail for posting it on the Slashdot front page.
Does anyone have any more info on the 75MUSD deal with AMD? This is blind, uninformed speculation, but isn't RAMBUS's latest thing XDR memory? The stuff that runs at 3.2Ghz with a muliplier equal to the CPU's in the PS3?
If AMD were to net this stuff for Athlon64s it would explain why they've been holding out on DDR2 for so long and would also prompt me to run out and buy Quad Opertons with XDR very quickly; memory bandwidth seems to be the greatest hurdle on the otherwise extremely broadly equipped Athlon64 line; I can see how it would make a lot of sense to pair it up with HyperTransport.
The French Gendarmerie also acts as a sort of National Guard, although it is involved in some softer policing duties than its US equivalent. (The National Guard)
From Wikipedia:
Its missions include:
The policing of countryside areas and of small towns, usually populations under 10000, outside of the jurisdiction of the French National Police.
Criminal investigations under judiciary supervision.
Crowd control and other security activities.
The security of airports and military installations, as well as all investigations relating to the military, including in foreign interventions.
Participations in ceremonies involving foreign heads of states or heads of governments.
Well, if you actually read the content of the stories, you'll see it's becuase Opera continues to innovate despite its marketshare. Opera Mini is perhaps under reported for what it actually is.
I don't have statistics to back it up, but I can prettymuch guarantee that with the release of the Xbox360 and PS3 both using POWER based chips, Apple aren't IBM's biggest customer.
The BBC actually offers an add/BS free version of RealPlayer on their website for people comming from UK ISPs. It's not exactly open, but it's alright. The reason they use WMP and Real is becuase the majority of their content is streaming, and mp3 based streaming servers aren't as well developed at the enterprise level as they could be. I'd imagine the reason this is in the same format (even though for this type of data it would make more sense as a download) is becuase it's a standardised system which they already have implemented for all their audio content.
To be fair to them as well, they do give you a choice, if that counts for anything.
There is the possibility that it is Free(speech), becuase Bittorrent is infact OSS. Although notably, most of the alt-clients don't contribute their code, beucase they tend to just use the protocal.
It wouldn't surprise me if it was free(speech) as OSS P2P system + OSS Crazed FF Extension Developers could well = Open Source P2P Extension.
No, it just allows you the fair use you were originally granted before the DMCA was put in. Copyright law still applies to everything you get, it's just that unlike making a backup of a CSS protected Video DVD, you can make a backup of this unprotected demo disk beucase you didn't have to break encryption.
However, becuase of the very nature of this disk (restricted kiosk) it is unlikely that 99% of people will be able to make backup copies of it under fair use.
Actually, I have met many religious people who do tend to rub it in my face that I'm going to hell. One claimed that after "Eschaton" Christians would be "kings and bishops over men." I can only provide anecdotal evidence, but then your assertion is also based on the anecdotal evidence of this story.
Compared to Firefox, Opera innovates far more. Tabbed Browsing, Interface Customisability: even the principles used in the design of Gmail - Opera is far ahead.
Firefox is great becuase it has had such excellent marketing and is diversifying the browser genepool away from IE; but as an acutal browser Opera tends to be the far more innovative, responsive, faster and generally a better program.
Here in the UK we have a much harsher rating system which is actually enforced by statue law; our ratings go 12, 15, 18. (years old) From working at a theatre once and seeing how the ticket sales go, a theatre not showing an 18 movie would be complete suicide here.
I actually agree with you... I was pointing out the logically flaws in such a belief by way of actually stating it... though admittedly it could have been dripping with far too much British understatement.
If it's anything like Real Audio, thanks but no thanks.

Face it guys, to the rest of the world, patriotism is funny.
Linux's kernel may be flawed, but the GUI is perfect, right?

I would have expected Slashdotters to look at the pictures... It has fixed wings. See.

Sorry; forgot to mention in previous post that there is a version of Realplayer for Linux, so Linux users http://www.real.com/linux?pcode=rn&src=freeplayer_ partner&opage=freeplayer_partner can apply.

The UK is the second greatest market for both Slashdot and Dell, so reporting this only makes sense.
If this is the case, am I addicted to food?

Opera has been completely free (as in Beer http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/09/20/121723 2&from=rss) with no ads for a while now... I am really surprised how few people actually use it.
