there has been an economic downturn for the last several years that seems to not be recovering or as the spin doctors like to tell it it is a "jobless recovery" so basically less & less people have the money to waste on movies & music and other trivial entertainment media, and things like beans & rice and bread are taking a higher priority than before since there is less money to spread around...
i wonder how much movies, music and video people will be buying during a complete economic depression like what there was during the 1930's
i bought a cellphone 3 years ago, and i will continue using it until it breaks, then i will smash it with an 8 pound sledge hammer against an anvil until it is a shredded pulp, then i will sweep up the pieces and put it in the trash, good luck trying to get any info off of it after that...
if they just outright ban all bittorrent (legal or not) that will include the way many people get Linux ISOs, bittorrent sure is handy when it comes to getting large DVD ISOs that are usually close to 4 gigs, i seen one double layer DVD iso @ 7.+ gigs
when was the last time you been in a KMart, Target, Walmart or [insert BigBox store name here] you cant swing a dead cat by the tail without knocking something off the shelves that doesnt have a "Made in China" label on it, China has basically killed the rest of the world's economies with the poorly designed and cheaply manufactured products...
"about the space ship mission to the sun, they were going to go at night". no wonder we never heard from them, they went through the worm hole, (and got worms)
Apple's products are extremely over-priced, it is an "electronics cult" sort of like scientology, (the iCult) i think Anonymous should take them down a notch or two.
why not portable cellphone and wifi telescopic antenna towers on trailers that are easily pulled by a pickup truck that can be set up within a few minutes, they can cross the border pull up to a mountaintop and be running in no time. and if they are cheap enough just set one up and abandon it to function until it gets blown up by the enemy, then deploy another one somewhere else, (no life lost) just a couple of thousand dollars in electronics and portable infrastructure for each, if they can be built cheap and disposable like that you can have fleets of them ready to deploy in hot war zones
when kde-4 came out i hated it, i still dont like it and i keep trying it hoping it will improve, it took me a long time to tolerate gnome-2.x after switching from gnome-1.4 (which i loved) anymore i prefer using xfce, icewm or openbox, with rox-filer drawing desktop icons & wallpaper, and i like keeping an eye on the lightweight window mangers anymore, the Gnome/KDE environments are just too busy and try to be too much for me to like anymore.
when i was a teenager in the late 1960s & early 1970s I spent quite a bit on music, nowadays music is very low on my priorities, i rather spend my money on food & shelter, gas & oil for my car, clothes & etc...etc...
besides after the RIAA went sue happy on downloaders i tend to not want to buy products from companies that treat their customers like criminals. so fuck the movie and music industry i hope they suffer and die a painful death
the VOA should have stuck to shortwave radio, with troops on the ground in both Afghanistan and Iraq i am sure the VOA could flood Iran with lots of moderately powered stations on enough different frequencies at once that Iran could not possibly jam all of them
you think leaves grow on trees!?
interesting, come back and tell me when i can get an electricity tree at Home Depot or Lowes'
and consider that i will eventually be wiping windows off and installing Linux on it...
they might as well start burying it in lead, steel & concrete, even if they use some of the flattened cars from the tsunami debris,
