I just installed ubuntu on an old laptop (presario p3-600.) The installation was a breeze, answered about a dozen questions and everything installed.. automatically restarted and the gnome desktop loaded up and was working the first try. I figured linux would have a lot of issues with laptop hardware but it seems to be handling it very well, touchpad works, battery applet recognizes whether its plugged in or not.. etc etc. Anyways, I was thinking of adding one of these USB wireless accessories.. could anybody here recommend one that has a good track record of working in linux ?

In a hundreds years microsoft will no longer exist so what do the historians do when they uncover a stack of magnetic tapes/dvds that contains documents in.doc format? (.doc or whatever other format you can think of.) They may have the hardware to transfer the data to newer computers and storage but the secrets to translating.DOC were lost years ago when microsoft went bankrupt..
I've heard and seen these stories about vietnam vets that lived tortured lives after coming back. Every day being a struggle to deal with the memories of that war. Some of them who have gone back to vietnam (in peacetime) find the experience liberating. Being able to face what has scrambled their brains for so many years, maybe it gives them a new perspective, but it seems to ease the pain.... not so sure this would help a rape victim, or maybe it does when they face the perpetrators in court?

But those employees are low-risk, low maintenance, very easy to insure... a health insurers dream. Naturally some of these employees wish to protect the healthcare benefits have privelage to.
But give those same employees 25 years of experience, cutbacks, job loss, sudden and unexpected health issues and they won't be singing the same tune. In the meantime they're living the high-life, big paycheques, fast cars. They're immortal! I remember those days too, long time ago.
