How about building a Stargate instead ? If that guy can build one in Carter's basement then I would imagine this future technology is way closer than we would imagine.
Insane.. 244watts under full load. Should be interesting to see amd's numbers in this regard.. (which should be out very soon, the release date is the 21st IIRC.) This would be an expensive upgrade if you choose Intel's dual-module chip. You'll need a new motherboard & a pretty hefty power supply.
I've heard of this before, having the odd bluish tone to it, maybe this will help.. I dont know, I dont have a lot experience with leds.
"Q: I want to use white LEDs for photographing or videotaping insects, plants, electronic parts, and other close-up subjects, but all of the white LEDs I've tried have this blue circle in them that ruins the picture. Any suggestions?
A: Try using Nichia's rectangular white model, NSPWF50S. This LED has a very wide, even beam that doesn't have that obnoxious blue ring in its beam. Since all white LEDs tend to have a bluish cast on film or videotape, you may need to adjust your camera's white balance or even use an orange-tinted filter to compensate.
The beam angle is very wide, around 140 by 120 degrees, so they won't be very good much over 1-2 feet away from the subject. They should work great for close-ups (a foot or less) though.
You will probably have to buy these directly from Nichia, since electronics places don't seem to carry them yet. I have some info on my Where To Buy LEDs page.

Someone else here can probably provide an explanation for why there's a bluish tone to some white leds.
Perens vs Torvalds vs RMS vs Gates in death match, Perens lobs a grenade. Will Torvalds respond with a clean headshot ? I can see RMS as the Axe murdering type while Gates just cheats with g0d_m0d3 .
You say that you're 5 hours away from a city with over 50,000 people in it. OK, how many towns of 5000 people are within 2.5 hours of you?
I'm not the person you were replying to but I know many small towns (Villages if you want to call them) that are wired. I can name 15 small towns with populations under 1000 that have broadband access up north (sitting hundreds of kilometers outside of the 401 corridor.)
Sure, its settled within a 100 miles of the u.s. border but that doesn't mean they're all stuffed into one corner of ontario or quebec. They live along a huge waterway & lakes, remember the St. Lawrence, Lake Ontario/Erie, etc ? Millions of people living from detroit to montreal.. this is not comparable Hong Kong or New York.
And then there's a few million people displaced into the prairie provinces that stretches thousands of miles.
Saying everybody lives within 100 miles of the u.s. border oversimplifies things a wee bit.
I'm not so sure this would be true (I'm assuming you're referring to the satellite smart cards.)
There's a huge financial temptation to start selling. Even the small fish at the bottom of the food chain programming cards were making a *lot* of money. A buddy of mine was making $140k/yr programming cards fulltime. Anybody near the top of the ladder making releases can pretty much charge whatever their heart desires.
This scheme will not be broken for at least 20 years.
There's no way they'll make the same mistake twice. DirecTV upgraded all their smart cards 2 or 3 years ago and it has yet to be broken. Bell Canada's expressvu is adopting the same technology because _everybody_ and their mom is pirating the signals.
I've noticed this myself, it's like my brain needs so many hours (or minutes) of dreaming every night. A lot of times I'll wake up really groggy and feel tired for the rest of the day.. but as soon as I take a nap I'll start dreaming, almost as if I'm picking up where I left off. 75-100 mins of extra sleep & dreaming and I'm feeling great for the rest of the day.
I was just about to upload a video and this showed up at the top of the page...

Can you guys please add support for the Theora-Vorbis files soon ? pretty please ?
In this post 9/11 world we need to be very cautious about what words we speak and hold others accountable for theirs. Anonymous blogging is not only irresponsible and dangerous it's downright anti-christian (Read Luke 8:14-29, John 4:20-13:37)

Hope for Hubble

· Score: -1, Troll
This is what happens when you greaseball politicians run things. Hubble may not be perfect and it may be showing its age compared to some of the newer technology scopes on the horizon. But, our government has pretty much decided to reinvest a LOT of money & resources into building new nuclear weapons.
I know nuclear weapons, b1 bombers, apache helicopters, tanks, bombs, bullets, weapons of torture and death are important in the fight with the unholy Al Queda but can't we set aside a few bucks for space exploration.. ? Where are our priorities ? Are people really that scared ?
Why not spend a few billion less on our massive war & death machine.. it's annual budget is near $400,000,000,000.00... come on people.
But you're missing the point of drilling the hole, at the same time they're drilling samples are being collected to understand the evolution of the earth and it's crust.
But how would you afford the mortgage if the price of the house was inflated 20% because they use only legal union workers ?
I'm not really trying to argue this way is right or that way is wrong but just point out how complex this situation is. On top of all of that is the fear mongering about the "Al Queda" infiltrating their way into America through the Mexican/U.S. border..
We enjoying a great housing market because of cheap migrant labour, should we not take advantage of it while it's there ?
There's another solution to this problem. Employ migrant workers from Mexico. No, this is not a troll/joke. This is just how it works whether you like it not. Been to North Carolina lately ? I'm not sure how this has happened and why there are so many Mexican's in that state but they're saturating the construction market, it's unreal. They're not paying into unemployment insurance or getting health benefits, but they work tirelessly and cheap.
Who needs high tech inventions when low-cost illegal manual labor solves the problem at a fraction of the cost ?
These guys are proping up our housing market and overall economy and we give em how much respect ? Yep, we've got the minutemen on the border trying to snipe them as they cross over.
Too many people acting like it's some race to find out about the latest settlements being constructed in the west bank, how many russian soldiers were fragged in chechnya, how the stock market did every second of the day.. At the end of the day you've learned nothing and you've gotta start over tomorrow. I think it's time people put all this crap where it belongs, in the recycle bin.
I did see the one with the Jar Jar character though (whichever episode that was.) Maybe the next episode should be directed by Rodriguez (Sin City) or Tarintino.. seems to me the Star Wars franchise needs a little spice, something to kick it up a notch! And maybe not geared so much towards children but adults, and none of this watered down R rated stuff with a pg-13 label next to it.
Clinton gave it life, Bush is going ape shit and bananas with it.. this is new the IP economy the U.S. is building and it's economic survival depends on these ridiculous patents. I figure in the 10-12 years congress will reform patent laws in such a way that they last 20 years + the lifetime of the filer (with qualifiers just in case the filer dies/corporation goes bust.) Maybe they'll just knock it up to 80 years, flat out. They did it with copyright, they'll do it with patents... They have to.
You too can have a lifetime monopoly on a method for drinking milk through your nostrils!
How about building a Stargate instead ? If that guy can build one in Carter's basement then I would imagine this future technology is way closer than we would imagine.
What I wouldn't give to live in her basement.

It could be worse.. they may find one that gives good reason to believe Jesus was homosexual, or a pedophile if that distinction should be made.
