    Probably, but not definitely. We do not know how life on this planet will end, or what man-made or natural extinction events are to come. For all we know Venus might have had life once.

    The worst case scenario for too much CO2 release is ocean acidification kills most ocean life, which then rots - it's then eaten by organisms which emit hydrogen sulfide, which then kills us humans because it screws up the air we breath and breathing is kind of essential to living.

    It's happened before.... Maybe.

    Maybe we should try not to f**k with the planet since we clearly don't know what the outcome will be.

    the downside the image is probably not going to be 3D and it sounds like the person taking the pictures with the drone will not be the engineer who inspects them.

    And a drone won't know if the lighting is good or if the wrong part of the pic is blurred. Will the quality of the photos be high enough to zoom in if needed? ... having read the article, the answer is no - the pictures are not of high enough quality, the system is still in the design stages...

    And what happens if the engineer is not happy with the quality of the photo - will the plane still be there to inspect? If there are less engineers needed and if an engineer complains about the quality of the photo then do they risk losing their job?

    Besides, "the radioactive leftovers" makes it sound like the reactors vomited their contents all around them like in Chernobyl, which was not the case.

    Both suffered reactor meltdown, both suffered 'explosive loss'

    Fukushima got lucky, the wind was blowing out to sea and 80% of the radiation due to the explosions went out to sea.

    Tepco lied continually, it took years for real facts to come out.

    That was my attitude which is why it is a clever move by Google to release accident reports. Now we can only cry foul if they miss a report.

    Caveat - any time their cars crash and it's not some other drivers fault, what's from stopping them from claiming the car was being driven by a human and not autonomously? If there isn't video evidence of the human driving then I'll take what they say with a pinch of salt. Why would they even allow humans to drive the autonomous cars other than for extreme conditions like heavy rain or snow?

    I wish you were joking, TTIP is a full out assault on democracy :-(

    ISDS is corporations wet dream - being able to sue the govt in a kangaroo court - not a normal court any time any govt decides to write a law to protect standards, rights, public services, health or the environment.

    What are gov't for again? This isn't just laws for sale, this is democracy for sale outright.

    Like hell are they, After re-installing win7 there was well over a thousand meg of updates, every time .net updates - it's typically hundreds of meg.

    And I swear it must have been a dozen or so reboots to get the machine up to date (over a day or two), why can't windows update in one go?

    Windows 10 sounds like some shitty DRM laden spying crap, I'll be leaving it until the last minute to upgrade, if I bother at all.

    No, they can't.

    Reaction time is only a fraction of stopping distance and cars already drive too close so, no, SDC's will not driver any closer than the cars you see on the roads today. Also you have to factor in the vast difference in braking distance difference between cars, braking distance can vary up to a third - for the very same car on the same day!

    Autonomous cars still have to leave more than a 1-second gap, I frequently see drivers leave a lot less.

    Solar is already cheaper than nuclear (cheapest nuclear type).

    Solar is far far cheaper than nuclear with reprocessing right now.

    Solar is even cheaper than coal when the external costs of coal are factored in (even just the costs to health, ignoring climate change etc).

    Wind and hydro are the cheapest sources of electricity right now.

    An article that opened my eyes said that washing laundry with hot water is pointless, modern washing machines with modern washing powder can wash clothes without the need for hot water and many clothes will last longer/fade less when washed cold. (caveat - very dirty / stinky clothes might still need heat).

    All the gov't need to do is put a leaflet through everyone's door, informing them of how they could easily cut their fuel bills. Simple solution, why don't they do it?

    RTFA and you might then understand the issue.

    What they don't clearly say is the real reason they dropped the bans is because the bans would likely not be legal if TTIP were implemented.

    TTIP removes the ability of the gov't and EU to protect people and the environment in many ways. ISDS allows companies to sue governments if some new law causes them to lose profits. In effect, new laws to protect people can not be written if they impinge on some corporations TTIP given right to make profit at any expense.

    TTIP is insanely bad, it is undemocratic, written by The Commission and corporations in order to help corporate profits at the expense of jobs, health, public serivces and the environment.

    Because US debt is denominated in US dollars, we could pay it off tomorrow with a spreadsheet entry at the Federal Reserve which created $16.39 trillion by fiat
