With Optus two years with the same issue on the iPhone. Also huge issues with dropped calls, or calls which I could here rining on my end but would not go through on the other.
I switched to Telstra and the issues disappeared.
Perhaps it's because there is no recourse for me as a consumer if the app just doesn't work. At least with that $4 coffee I can send it back if it's bad, can't do that with an app.
I don't mean to criticise you, but have you ever owned any of the new phones at all? I've only ever seen one phone with a colour screen crack. Compare this to the old Nokia 5110 which had a recall for screens just failing. In fact, I've seen more monochrome screens fail or crack then I have any colour phone displays.
On the other side, I don't see what makes this phone so special. Almost every phone on the market here in Australia has MP3 Playback support. In fact you can pick up a Sony Ericsson W300i walkman phone for AU$200 as a prepaid option.
I don't see people sitting down to watch an hour and a half to three hour movie on their PSP's. Thats far too long to be sitting squinting at a tiny screen.
I'm thinking the killer product would be something like the PSP or iPod with an online TV Show shop. Where you can download an episode or a series at a time, sync it to your handheld device and watch an episode or two on the train to work, while you're having lunch. Whenever you have a quick 20 to 40 mins spare.
Charge a dollar an episode or $10 a series and you've got a winning product!
Hmm as an Australian I'm not to sure how to take a lot of these comments (even the ones from fellow Australians).
To me, being an Australian is about matehood. Looking after your friends, often even when you know they're in the wrong. You're there to help them out when they're in trouble, and to enjoy the good times as well (and often celebrate with a lot of beer (XXXX all the way!!!).
I live in Northern Queensland, so I'm not too sure what the rest of Australia is like (ie outside of QLD), but I hope it's not like some of the comments above.
The fact that we let the US take this guy is anything but Australian. It makes me incredibly disappointed and angry at the government that such a thing should happen.

I haven't had any luck with this. Granted I never followed up with Apple, but have tried two methods I had found with no result.
