You mean ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN/MSNBC and all the others weren't spewing favorable propaganda for Obama 24/7? From what I could tell Shepard Smith of Fox News seemed genuinely delighted when they called the election for Obama, so I can't figure out which media empire was allegedly backing Romney...

At some point you just have to account for the laws of physics.

Pushing a vehicle at 80MPH down the highway is going to be hard to do and get 54.5 MPG..

I can see a few responses to this:

    1. Conspiracy Theorist -- The government knows this and is just using CAFE as a way to lower freeway speeds to 50 MPH.
    2. Pie-in-the-sky Optimist -- Engineers will develop a clever solution to the wind resistance problem. Perhaps something akin to noise cancelling headphones, but a 'wind cancellation' solution.
    3. Pragmatist -- These standards will be seen as unrealistic and subsequently revised downward by a future administration.

I don't even advocate the usage of Celcius in this case, so why not use 33 degrees Kelvin? This at least give us _some_ idea of how close to absolute zero we are. Otherwise, why not use 'near absolute zero' and leave out the numbers completely?

I think you're on the right track here, but I would propose something like this:

If Congress passes a budget and actually pays down the national debt, they get their salary plus a bonus.
If Congress passes a balanced budget, they are paid their full salary.
If Congress passes a budget with a deficit, they lose a % of their salary.
If Congress fails to pass a budget, they are all ineligible for re-election.

Congress may want to raise taxes to make sure they get their bonus, but they would then run the risk of not being re-elected.

Unfortunately, the back half is jettisoned and burns up. It's a wonderful achievement but it isn't a spaceship. The shuttles were spaceships. Earth doesn't have any at present (unless you count the US Air Force's little robot one).

By this logic, Apollo wasn't a spaceship since the "back half" (a.k.a. Service Module or SM) was jettisoned and burned up prior to re-entry.
