There's a Twitter/RSS replacement coming up via a Kickstarter (already funded) called Trsst. End to end public/private encryption, and it looks like a good design.
Same here... pictures suck up a lot of space. I use a lot of apps and don't even really have room for music or videos. I'm hoping the NExus 5 can run USM OTG like the Nexus 7. I'd consider that approaching acceptable.
We, the FOSS community decide what's right. It makes it difficult for people who want to push the boundaries of the acceptable though, as I've seen a couple of studies that show a bit of what they called "Hero Syndrome" in the IT community as a whole. I'm not sure if it's from being bullied, reading too many comic books or something else, but apparently it exists. I think it's a good thing, but the Microsoft and Apple marketing and development teams most definitely don't have it, and that leaves FOSS at a but of an idealistic disadvantage.
Regardless of whether or not it reduces market share, it's behaviour that should be discouraged. There's frequently a difference between doing what's popular and what's right.
Not just usable in the HMI sense, but usable because it's solid. Unity is a slow, crashy disaster, and even though I can tolerate Gnome Shell, it's just too unstable to use for real work, with daily crashes. Although these are generally non-fatal, they tend to leave things in a 'not quite right' state. Even the very latest KDE tends to be very fast and very solid these days.
I don't think there's a government or large organization in the world that doesn't have at least some employees pooching. It's practically a sport in some cases.
I suppose it depends on whether the agreement was not to hire from each other, or not to actively recruit from each other. In my opinion, the former is evil (and should be illegal), the latter is not.
You may want to look up "Free speech zones", "Constitution free zones", and VIPR Teams. You may want to read up on what the NSA is doing. I've got a pretty good idea of what a police state is. If you get the equivalent of "papers please" when driving through your own country, you're pretty much there and raiding journalists puts it over the top. You may think that she needs to be thrown in jail for that to be the case, but the chilling effect on both journalists and whistleblowers will be served just fine by the raid alone.
The kind that isn't aware that she lives in a police state. You can continue to delude yourselves if you like, but it's pretty clear at this point that that's what the US has become. It's no longer a matter of 'if this continues'; it's here.
So putting up an advertisement on a free service is 'evil' now? Google makes their money by advertising. They provide a free service for you and pay for it by selling advertising space to others.
My understanding is that we recently discovered a means to measure quantum events without affecting them by using some secondary effects. Effectively, it's now possible to observe in a 'god-like' way on a small scale.
Same here with a Nexus 4 and a newer Hyundai. Get it the car, it pairs for music, communication, etc. Works flawlessly so far. As long as both the car and phone manufacturers stick to standards things should work fine.
I thought they were sold out. They all became "Add to Wishlist" only after about 25 minutes.
You can run a full Linux build chrooted under Android. You can also install Ubuntu Touch on the Nexus 4. Close enough?
I haven't seen it and I have quite a few friends with Nexus 4s. Could be a hardware problem.

That's what Apple did with iMessage. Extending XMPP doesn't mean it needs to be open.

Yet you're still allowed to have a GPS in the car? Glass is the best implementation possible I think, even better than a HUD, as it's less intrusive.
It used to be grey. Now it's all sorts of bright happy colours.
Same here. Notifications, weather, quick text responses, and lately bar codes for coffee cards, Air Miles, etc as well. Decent looking watch too.

Damn the Urban Dictionary ... I was referring to "screwing the pooch".

How can they get a patent on this? Wasn't pretty much the same thing done in Snow Crash, albeit for a different reason?
You can use the Google apps in cyanogenmod.
Even their old Android app had ridiculous permissions. LinkedIn is handy if you're looking for work, but web-only.

... and CEOs.
So vote with your eyeballs. Go somewhere else and let them know that you're not pleased right at step one.
