D&D, and rpgs in general, don't have a set plot... So how do you make a movie out of it? Pick out parts of the world based on the rules of the game and then write the plot? Interesting..
I think I would be more excited about a Dragonlance or Forgotten Realms movie... Those seetings have some stories and characters that I would love to see done (well) on screen.
But how do you make a plot from the Players handbook... I guess you could use the examples from the book...
Scene 1:
Rothgar is pummeled by several orcs to demonstarte pummeling rules.
Scene 2:
Borkfast carefully dons his armor and shoulders his pack to help explain encumbrance...
Who knows... I'll go see it as soon as it comes out... even if it's dumb as dirt.. Come on, its D&D!!!

One thing not mentioned in the articles is Qaulcomm's pdQ, check it out here http://www.qualcomm.com/pdq. It is basically a digital cellular phone that is built around/ is integrated with a Pilot. You can even click on phone numbers in the pilot's address book to have it dial. I looks pretty slick.

The single biggest obstacle to many of my friends and associates making the switch/taking the plunge is that they need a lifeline. Repartitioning your hard disk and what not does not offer that.
THIS DOES. Sure it's not a 'great' linux system. But it sure looks like an excellent way to dip ones toes in the water and get used to the linux world... While still being able to switch back to MS Windows and load up your office documents...
I don't think this will ever be a 'major' linux distro... except as a great 'entry' level, learning tool.
That's what I wonder... so the government wins. Microsoft has used unfair business practices and is a monopoly of sorts? What happens then. A telephone style break up where MS is broken up into a bunch of smaller division. The IE division the 9x division, the NT division?
As much as I am anti-microsoft... their dominance and accidental leadership seems to push the opensource commmunity to better things. Without the dominance of Windows, would a great Linux desktop environemnt like KDE or Gnome exist... I think not. The open-source community almost seems to need something to rally against...
While we will all admit that Apple may not make the the best hardware, techniacally...
From a coolness factor... they rock... My next computer is going to be an iBook (as soon as a Linux distro supports it).
While many of us techno-geeks buy a system for the gut's that are in it, a lot of people like those funky cases (including my girlfriend). There is a ture 'geeky-coolness' factor to having a blueberry mac running linux. Makes people do a double take.
When I first read about Lego Mindstorms, I said, 'Cool, but what am I going to do after my robot can already run around the house and fetch the paper.'
Now I've got a lego mindstorms kit at the top of my Christmas wish list... Except in addition to the robot kit, I need several other geek friends to get a kt... that's when we can have real fun!!
Although of all the robot competitions I've read about, the Destruction derby/mortal Kombat style competitions seem the most fun... They're is a real incentive to win (you have to rebuild your robot if he loses:) Imagine midwiping another robot during a battle....

Announcer: Yes, it's true parents.. You just have to set the V-chip settings on your TV and you no longer have to censor what your kids watch, and if you can't figure it out... ASK YOUR KIDS!

If you look at any of those old (and albeit wrong) studies between Windos and LInux for webserving... one, moderately beefy linux box will serve up content for more bandwith than several T1's. The real question is, what kind of bandwidth are you going to need.
Perhaps you should really focus on making sure the sculpture delivers up a pretty small, streamlined image, otherwise, the demands on your internet connection are going to kill you...
Let us know when you get hte project done... hopefully it will be so great, we'll crash your server no matter how beefy it is... Good luck...
I've alwasy been put off of the Palm because of price. YOu can get a color windowsCE device for not much more thana top of the line Palm...
... but look at those prices initially estimated prices! I'm going to have to run out and buy the high end model (as soon as I see someone else buy one, and it works great).
Intel is threatening to remove the SMP capabilities from their Celerons.
Hmmm... I wonder why, could it be becasue they don't want people building power system with their, 'low-end' processor for pennies.
Now I can go buy that mac and have some fun...
