I guess those laws allowed a senator from the state to get away with murder (or at least negligenct homicide)
Not until they find the body of Levy will it be a murder. If you wanna call a missing persons case a murder case you might as well stop sending out those little cards in the mail of kids that say "Have you seen me?" because they're already dead, right?
For a MA resident, you seem to be lost on past events. And current events for that matter.
The original poster said Senator, not Representative. He was referring to the Honorable Swimmer from your home state.
You also get a low grade for current events as MA has nothing to do with the Levy case. Condit is from CA.
Are PQA files only for Palm VII's or can I use them from my Visor/Handspring? I could never seem to find an app for using the PQA's.
Downloading the PQA, synced it to my Kyocera 6035 and I logged into Slashdot about 30 seconds later. So, I think it will work with any wireless enabled device running Palm OS.
Myself (and a few people I know) already have the Kyocera QCP-6035 (the PDA/phone in the article). They've been available (on the East coast at least) through Verizon for a while now, and Sprint will have them as well next quarter.
Sprint has them now. You can order them through the Sprint Website, or pick one up at your local Comp USA.
The problem with a combination phone and PDA is that half the time when I want to write something down, someone's telling it to me over the phone. I don't want to have to take someone's address and phone number down by pulling the phone away from my ear every few numbers...
That is not a problem with the 6035 linked to in the article. It has a one button switch between telephone and speakerphone mode. Someone wants to give me a number it is as simple as hit a button and open the flip and start writing. The speaker phone works very well too.
I sold my Visorphone on Ebay and switched to the 6035 and am very pleased. Overall size is smaller and lighter than the Visor Phone and it has phone buttons so I can touch dial without looking at the unit while driving.
I dunno about this -- the most computer illiterate people are Wintel's primary demographic. This is why Intel promotes the Pentium III to make your Internet faster (and gets away with it).
And this is different from selling a computer by color?
Apple's demographic tends to be holier-than-thou arty types and interface nuts. My experience is that Mac OS users tend to be very computer aware, if not literate, because since 1991 or so, you have to have really loved the Mac OS to put up with expensive hardware, corporate idiocy, and really, really poor (official) technical support.
Apple's long time users are very literate. But, in my experience, the large majority of Mac users are in fact quite stupid when it comes to how their system works.
>> The P4 systems from HP were recalled because of the bad BIOS chips in them.
>Damn, it's a shame someone doesn't invent a BIOS chip that could be updated without removing it from the motherboard.
They did and that is what is happening. Comp USA is doing the BIOS upgrades and there will be a sticker on the bottom of the box indicating that the BIOS has been updated.
Are you serious? Please do some reading so you know what is actually happening in Florida. I think these articles are pretty interesting maybe you should check them out and broaden your mind:
Winning by intimidation
Patriot missile
Raising the Stakes
You are kidding right? You suggest to do some reading to broaden the mind and you give three opinion pieces to read? To suggest for someone to do some reading and broaden their mind is to suggest that they study the situation for themselves, not read name calling diatribe and consider it fact.
Anyone how often will EB stores restock D2 orders? I was unable to get it from three local EB stores.:( Does Best Buys and CompUSA (too expensive) have them yet?
Best Buy in my area didn't have any but the Comp USA did. Retail is $59.99.
There is the Panasonic that writes to a SuperDisk. The camera also serves as an external SuperDisk drive. If you are looking for mega storage, try the Casio with a 340 MB IBM Microdrive. It seems to me that burning to a small disk would be quite slow compared to these two methods.
CompUSA's inventory system is FUBAR. They have been working on a way to make inventory checks real time for years. But until they get rid of IMS and get a real database, it won't happen. Always call the store itself if you want information on stock quantities. When you get a live person, ask them where they are at. You are probably talking to the idiots in Dallas and dont' even know it.
It was retailer's error. But not the employee's error in not enforcing the terms, it was CompUSA's error at corporate. They changed the price without letting store level know about the package.
I have watched those things sit in the store for over 6 months while not one of them sold. A couple of days ago, I see two young gentlemen walk in and each pick one up. The sign, still said $199. I check the cost in the system, it is $50. Well, I think we are finally dumping this junk, it is about time. An hour later, I have one left in the store. I now suspect an I-opener type hack and put one aside for myself. I will go to work tommorrow and buy my new MP3 player.
I just downloaded cphack.exe. Please add me to the list of the people Mattel wants to sue.:-)
I suggest everybody that reads this download the program. Let's see if we can make Mattel go broke trying to track down everyone that downloaded it. It doesn't really matter that I don't use Cyber Patrol or even know anyone that uses it.:-)
I may be wrong, but I see Unix in general, and Linux specifically, as one huge development environment. This merger might make sense if essential stuff like a C compiler were missing, but it isn't. And the Unix development environment is basically what most Unix developers want to use, isn't it?
Did you forget how slow the C compilers are for *nix? It would be nice to have an IDE that would precompile while you were sitting there staring at the screen. The compile times are real slow with gcc compared to Borlands compiler.
You know, I've liked Katz's stuff in the past. Really. I've defended him against those who would seek to have him banished from the realm that is/. Now, I'm not so sure. Has Katz finally lost his mind?
I have to agree with most of what you are saying. I have liked most of his articles and think he has gotten a lot of unfair criticism. I think (hope?) that Katz is trying a little sarcasm in this article. I cannot beleive that after all the free speech free thinking articles he has written that he would honestly propose such a thing as Clothos.
Mr. Katz, if you really believe this, you have lost your mind.
The story is nothing to worry about as it is a truancy issue and not one of Internet censorship.
The point that seems to missing here is how much the Phillipines has matured. 5 years ago, an average citizen could not possibly use the Internet. Even now, outside of large cities, most homes don't have a telephone. In rural areas, one public cellular is often shared by the entire community.
It is very nice to see that the Phillipines is embracing technology. Maybe this (along with politcal reforms which seem to be coming slowly) will help the Phillipines out of a very bad economic situation.
I'm not getting into this to talk about gun control. I'm just trying to say they are two TOTALLY different things.
You are right, they are two totally different things. Assuming encryption == privacy, firearms are more protected under the U.S. Constitution. Your privacy can be infriged upon by court order. The Constitution does not give the same right to the government concerning firearms.
Yet, there have been many infrigements on the right to bear arms in the United States. You better write your congressman and keep encryption out of government hands. It is obvious the Constitution won't do that.

Are they absolutely sure it's a real cease and desist?
/. from bashing Mastercard anyway. :-)
Seems like this guy would be a prime target for a practical joke...
I would say it is a joke, nothing more.
The reply is dated April, 1 (as seen in the URL).
Where the letter is posted, the title bar of my browser reads, "April 3, 2001". And the letter itself is dated April 9, 2001.
So basically, he replied to the letter on April 1, posted the letter on April 3, and was sent the letter on April 9. Not a very good practical joke.
But that won't stop anyone on
