32-bit CP/M? Last time I used CP/M, it was only 8-bit. And my computer was a Basis 108, a German-made Apple ][ close with a dual-processor 6502/Z80 motherboard and 64K RAM.
As long as Amazon still has control over my Kindle and can remove my "property" without knowledge or consent I could care less about significant improvements to the file formats and features.
Please do care less. But don't be careless about it.
By the way, I fully agree with the sentiment.
I have to disagree with this one. My motto is, "if it ain't broke, fix it until it breaks." I think the Ubuntu devs and the GNOME devs have taken my motto to heart. Unfortunately, I don't like their alternatives. No big deal, there are plenty of other options, both within the -buntu family and without..
I don't know about paring down to just 3 models, but the concept sounds a lot less confusing to me than the current state of affairs. To top it off, model numbers should all begin with the year and month of introduction, not unlike Ubuntu releases.
I had an Indian professor for a couple of math classes (ring theory and group theory) back in the mid 1970s. I had no difficulty understanding his accent - it was the mathematics that gave me difficulties.
and one of which (LXDE) I'm using quite happily. I did have to revert glibc to version 2.14-6 instead of the current 2.14.90-4 because the latter keeps crashing Firefox (but not Chrome).
The K-T boundary position is very well-constrained; the uncertainty regarding its exact age is irrelevant..
Sedimentation rates are estimated to have ranged from 52 to 81 meters per million years. Thus 13 cm represents no more than 2500 years.
Now, is it possible, based on the available evidence, that the last dinosaur died out 2500 years before the big meteorite impact at the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary? Certainly. However, is it likely? As a geologist, I'd have say NO!
Maybe I'm wrong, but given the changes China's undergone in the past two decades or so, I really do expect enough of the drones to break out of their narrow shells in the coming decades to make China more innovative.
People who bought netbooks didn't really wanted a netbook - what they wanted was a very small, mobile and cheap version of the notebook computer they used before
And I got it. Twice the speed, twice the ram, half the size, and only 168 fewer pixels vertically.
Unfortunately this combination makes for very poor usability.
Gnome 2 goes away in the next release of Ubuntu. Then it's a choice between Unity and Gnome 3, which both appear to be following similar 'you will do things the way we want you to because we know best' philosophies, or KDE which is OK but just feels blah whenever I try a new release.
or XFCE (Xubuntu) or LXDE (Lubuntu) or . IMHO, XFCE is now very similar to GNOME2; close enough that if I were a GNOME2 user who'd rather switch than whine, that would be my first choice. Personally, I prefer LXDE.
I must have received mine when I was 7 or 8, so it hasn't quite been 50 years - let's call it 45+. Made by Gilbert. Mine came in a white cardboard box, not the fancy case that enclosed some of the earlier sets. Like the parent, I'm still alive, with all extremities intact. (In all likelihood unlike) the parent, thanks to that chemistry set, among other influences, I can claim to be a geochemist.
Once upon a time, I mixed equal parts (by weight) hydronium hydroxide and dihydrogen monoxide. Poured the resulting product into a paper cup and drank it.
You do know that LG is Korean, don't you?

I believe Chaim Weizmann, Israel's first president, was a chemist

Mod me redundant, but my first thought upon seeing the headline was, "what could possibly go wrong?"

Pl/1 was the language for all non-computer types back in 1975 at UCLA. The computer types took FORTRAN
I can see that ~90% of my success is due to nothing more than being in the right place and the right time
with the right background to take advantage of the situation. As the Boy Scout motto goes, "be prepared"
Personally, I have no anonymity.
Sure you do - you posted as an AC
XFCE wouldn't work for you?
Looks like Fedora is going to move to 1000 with F16 http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/devel/2011-May/151663.html/
I personally prefer LXDE, but XFCE seems to be very close to GNOME2.
Here's my idea of accountability for politicians: Instead of the death penalty, 10 years in prison without parole for breaking campaign promises.

subject line says it all (as does TFA)
Hey, I used to write and run programs on a CDC 6600. Guess that means I'm old.

(Fe + 3H20 = FeO3 +3H2 I believe)
2Fe + 3H20 = Fe2O3 +3H2
