  1. this is eerie on Opera Software Co-Founder Passes Away · · Score: 1

oddly enough, I decided to install and run opera for the very first time the same day the news story was released.

I was very impressed with the software, as many are, and am now sad to hear of this loss.
I also recommended opera to my sister, who uses MSIE over Firefox because the favorites button has a shiny star. I kid you not.

Personally, I hope credit card compaines send me more applications. The glossy paper makes excellent kindling in the fireplace, and if they send me enough - I can heat my home for free!

I used the netinstall image, and it took quite a while for all the packages to download and unpack on Igor. If you're installing Debian in this fashion on older hardware, I suggest going out for a pizza when you get to the download stage.
When I did this on my old laptop, I should have gone out drinking until last call. I would have been back just in time to configure X.

#1 Rule of Safe Computing: Never store porn in your home folder.

No, seriously, AOL has poisioned the minds and destroyed the computers of the least common denominator for so long, I'm surprised a campaign the size and scope of the 'Truth-Anti-Smoking ads' hasn't appeared. I guess like tobacco, it takes a century for realization to kick in.

  7. Flamebait - you mean referrers? on Is It Wrong to Love Microsoft? · · Score: 1

There seems to be a lot of ads on CoolTechZone - some google adsense and a few direct banners to hardware vendors. It appears that Dubey wrote his 'article' as flamebait to attract some extra traffic from slashdot, knowing the effect that microsoft has here. (1062 Comments as of this writing)

That way I don't have to delete all the links to Media Player when I have to repair my windows installation. Again.
Plus I'll have a media player that opens fast and doesn't get all obscure if I happen to click on skin mode by accident.
