Using the free Windows software from Microsoft, it is trivial for me to stitch many photos together to make a stunning panorama photo. For example I once sat and made one while a boat pulled in to dock alongside me, to pick up a few passengers and then it pulled away. I probably shot about a dozen photos during this short time, all the while the boat was directly within my panorama. The resulting photo looks amazing, like there's 3-4 boats, (with the same people!). In fact I think I had to shoot quickly to achieve such a result, because otherwise the boat would have been erased completely from the 'landscape'.
Was the water static background? I certainly had no tripod as I swept the camera around me as I shot each frame, while seated on the dock.
It is amazing what effects interpolation math and a computer can achieve.
At first I thought to joke that you meant people don't buy iPhones annually, when they are actually renting them. But then I realized 'leasing to own' is a more appropriate term to use, for what is a highly depreciable purchase.
This is Guerrilla Economics 101 that should be taught so young people aren't so easily manipulated by The Shiny.
Is Adobe Flash innovative? I'm not sure, but for some it certainly might be, and worth having.
Personally I enjoyed my A2DP bluetooth headsets in the office, both for calls and hi-fi music, for several years before iPhone users could use something other than wired earphones. (Nokia N95)
Between you and me, I dig on how nice and easy it is to 3g-tether between my Nokia N9 and Ubuntu 12.04/ Gnome3 notebooks, wirelessly via bluetooth. Very low power and battery drain when doing so, much lower than otherwise using the included Nokia N9 802.11 wifi hotspot tool. Not sure if this qualifies as innovative or not, but it sure is mighty nice on a phone released in 2009. That team got it right.
I couldn't agree more. Years ago, I'd have killed for what is possible to buy today, just for flight sims, especially MS Flight sim, the only reason to buy Windows AFAIK. Now investing in hardware just to run MS Flight sim seems like a hopeless 'requirement' when spec'ing hardware.
For everything else, especially actual work stuff, 2x 27" monitors or less seems much more realistic. Not to mention K.I.S.S. principles being best, especially if the rig does double-duty as an actual workstation.
Oh man, my brain immediately starts to think of about 100 jokes that involve the %$#@! global Dutch KPN Telecom, but then the %$#@!%$#@! huge-ass mega-global France Telecom monstrosity kills off each and every one.
Actually my time, as charged to clients, is relatively expensive. Therefore I have trained myself (as a web developer) to use GIMP for nearly every occasion, so when needed at the client site I can just download it and get to work without the time or hassle req'd to complete a purchase order and get it approved.
Same is true with Inkscape btw.
In case you are wondering, my clients are mainly enterprises that will balk at a new purchase request of several hundred, or even thousands of dollars worth of software; yet they still want it to 'just work', today.
I, and my clients by way of extension, are free of Adobe.
No one seems to be pining away for Fortran programmers. At least not much ayways. A quick 'n dirty search on Dice.com yields 46 results, (and no doubt a few are doubles).
No kidding. Do you have any idea how many misfits hang out in this place and yet you chose to come here looking for relationship advice? There's your first clue right there; you sir are fighting the wrong battle. Give it up. Recalculate your position and values, and adjust accordingly.
You have no idea how good you have it, if only you'd smell the roses and go for long walks on the beach, or at least show some appreciation for your good fortune and go outdoors to do something with your significant other who obviously has other life interests but yet tolerates your kind. It is now time to throw your toys away, you have evolved beyond J.F. Sebastian status as you have been chosen by a real-life babe for fsckng marriage!
Love, peace, and prosperity; share it and may you come to enjoy reciprocation of the one that already has chosen you. -The Internet.
This comment should not have been modded-down to zero. It isn't like it was wildly off-topic or trolling or anything like that. I thought it was a little bit funny.
I had carpal bad for awhile and tried all kinds of stuff. What finally worked was my noticing part of the chiropractor's treatment, which I was able to replicate myself whenever I felt the need. I told him what I was doing and he gave my 'treatment' his endorsement.
The chiropractor had me stand straight up, with my arms down at my side. Then he'd pull down hard on my thumb until it 'popped', (as best as I can describe it). So I tried this myself by gripping my right thumb with my left hand and pulling horizontally across my chest to do the same thing.
It seems that computer mouse-work builds up a kind of stress and this releases it, and whenever I feel the need I do this, and I've been good ever since. YMMV.
Carriers didn't want Nokia Meego phones mainly because of [currently Microsoft] Skype. Had Nokia reconsidered their embracement and evangelism for Skype this might have been a deciding factor with the carriers you suggest as the problem.
No. Elop is more like the captain of the Costa Concordia, as in, 'hey let's take this ship off-roadin' onto those rocks over there, just so the folks on the island can get a really good view.

Oops, a clarification, the Nokia N9 was released 29, September 2011, (not 2009 as I posted previously).
Or innovations like GPS navigation and maps? http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/09/28/tim-cook-maps/
Or innovations like a free, standards-based web-browser financed by a non-profit organization? http://arstechnica.com/apple/2013/03/firefox-is-out-of-the-ios-game-until-apple-changes-its-ways/

Please mod-up such well-articulated commentary on the Slashdots. Wow.
The U.S. has already formally requested folks stay at least 75 meters (246 ft) from the site.

I'm too busy to look myself, but those tower recordings are all very nicely archived. Has the archive been disturbed in any way?

Confused the title with Cool Runnings, so I'm glad I double-checked:
Silent running:

Okay, then I wonder if the resistive touchscreen of the N900 would eliminate the chances of a port to something like a Raspberry Pi?

If you ask Siri or the Maps App how to get to cyberspace, you'll get an answer . Just don't try to use it for navigation.
Sure the sudden increase in low air pressure might put out an onboard fire, along with a few of the passengers inside.
