That is why the NSA and only the NSA should have access to this information. The NSA would not care if you call your lawyer. And we are not talking about phone taps at this point we are only talking about phone records. They would still need a warrant to tap your phone, unless you are calling a known terrorist. I would hope that the government will be listening to a conversation between you and a terrorist and not wait for a warrant.
This has been going on since before the Administration of President Bush so I don't see how people are able to blame this on him and make it stick.
If the left would stop cheering on the terrorists maybe our troops could come home sooner. After all the left are the best cheer leaders the terrorists have. And as long as the terrorists see that they are splitting this country down the middle, they will continue.
There have not been as many problems with this in Afghanistan but the country was not divided about going into afghanistan, and the terrorists were not getting the reaction from the left that they are getting in Iraq.
As far as bush not being elected, that is just false. If you don't like him fine, but he still received more votes than Bill Clinton ever received. If you want to talk about voting scandals we can talk about Clinton selling nuclear secrets China for money to buy the election and then he pardoned everyone he could when he left office.(I like bush better than the alternatives but I still don't like about 50% of what he does which is down from about 90% of what Clinton did.)
Highest popular vote received by President:
62,040,610 Bush - 2004
54,455,472 Reagan - 1984
50,460,110 Bush - 2000
48,886,597 GWH Bush - 1988
47,400,125 Clinton - 1996
47,168,710 Nixon - 1972
44,909,806 Clinton - 1996
43,903,230 Reagan - 1980
43,127,041 Johnson - 1964
40,831,881 Carter - 1976
About time they figure out who is leaking top secret information to the press! I hope they find the traitors and put them in jail for disclosing secret information that could put our troops in danger.
If people abuse the power of the NSA then those people need to be prosecuted, removed from office and put in jail. That doesn't change the fact that the NSA needs access to this kind of information to do its job effectively. There need to be checks and balances for this to work. But anyone that uses or attempts to use this information for anything but National Security should be prosecuted.
I will just assume you are talking about the same ones that I have noticed:
The right to own and carry a Gun....This is protected by the Constitution and yet the liberals in this country have found a way to make it illegal to do so in many states and Cities. The freedom to defend myself is much more important to me than protecting my phone call history from the only Government Agency that in my opinion should have free access to this information.
Freedom of Religion Why is it in this country athiests have more rights to practice their religion than I do? I don't have the right to say in a public place that their is a God, but the Athiests have the right to say that there is not. Atheism is a religion and should be treated as such.
Freedom of speach Now with Hate crime legislation and me being a white male I need to be very carful of what I say. Not that I would say or do anything that would be a hate crime, but it wouldn't matter what I said it would matter how it is interpreted.
Freedom of the press This is not a freedom that has been taken away by the Government yet.(but give the FCC time and they just might) For the most part their is a monopoly of the press in this country. It is called the Associated press. Any story ran by the Associated press is repeated again and again on every news broadcast over and over and over. Even when the information is not entirely accurate.
And why does PBS get Government funding to shell out completely one sided Documentaries and news? Can you imagine the outrage by the left if the Government funded the likes of Rush Limbaugh or Michael Savage?
Just keep the likes of Hillary out of office so I don't lose the freedom I have to choose which doctor I can take my family to. If she gets into office I will probably also loose the freedom I have to spend my own money for what I want since she seems to know better how to spend it than I do. For that matter most of the left would like to me to loose the freedom I have to spend my money and grow the economy. After all they vote against Tax cuts every time they can. They also vote against cutting Government programs that should have never been setup in the first place. If you want to stop "eroding civil rights" First you need to remove all government programs that are not part of the proper role of Government. I am afraid that the only way we will ever do that is by electing Independents into office, and I don't think that is going to happen any time soon.
In a sane country this lawsuit would be dismissed.
This information is the business of the NSA. The NSA needs to be able to know who is calling who outside this country. The only way to have access to this information is through the phone companies. This is only a list of who called who. They would need this information to help find out which phones they would need to tap.
This is also the reason that the Federal Government's powers should be limited primarily to National Defence. This way the Federal Government would not have any conflicts of interest with any infomation accuired in the interest of National Security. Because they would have no real authority to arrest or to do anything else to a citizen of this country unless it was a National security issue.
The purpose of the National Government is to preserve our Freedom. I see no freedom lost when the Government has a list of phone numbers I have called if they are only going to take that list and perform a query against it to see if I have called up any terrorists.
How effective would the NSA be if it took them several days and a court order every time they needed to know if someone is calling terrorists? They would probably have to hire more lawyers and appoint more judges just to keep up with it all. And in the end you would not be able to run any kind of statistical analysis on the data you have collected because you would not have a complete set of data.
Just don't let Hillary have the list she will probably want to check and see if I have called the local Gun Store.
The company I work for is in the process of switching over to Microsoft from Novell
We are switching from Netware 5/6 servers to a Windows 2003 Cluster.
For this switch my company has paid millions to Microsoft and in the end we are going to have less functionality and it will take more time to manage than what we could do with Novell 10 years ago!!!
Microsoft is counting us as one of those that switched from Novell to Microsoft but it is going to take several years to move to Microsoft software and by the time the switch actually happens we could have a new CIO that doesn't have his head where the sun doesn't shine.
The reason that Microsoft can sell it's product is because they make their pitch to the CIO of a company, and tell the non technical CIO how much money he will save. (They don't tell him about the increased down time and increased time to manage and patch. Or the hundreds of thousand of dollars he will have to pay to 3rd party software venders just to make the crap work.)
I have talked to Network Engineers at various places and have heard the same story from all of them:
Microsoft came and talked to the CIO and gave him a deal on Microsoft products, But Only if they agreed not to renew thier contract with Novell.
In most cases they were willing to give them Microsoft software to replace their Novell software for pennies on the dollar. Microsoft looses nothing since they were already getting the same amount of money for Windows and Office alone. But now they are able to use their Monopoly on the desktop to try and push Novell out of business.
I have been supporting Netware, Windows, Linux, and Unix since the early 1990s and I have not found anything that works as good as Novell's products to manage a large network.
WLAN drivers seem to be the one piece of hardware that does not have good linux driver support. I think that part of this is due to the NDISWrapper which allows you to use the windows driver for your WLAN card. Once you know how to use the NDIS wrapper it only takes a few minutes to install a WLAN card. I have tried 5 different(pci, pcmcia,USB) WLAN cards and all have worked fine.
what is nice about most Linux Distro's is that most if not all of the hardware in your computer will be setup and work. Every time I install Windows XP on a computer I have 3-5 devices that are not recognized. This can be a big problem when one of the devices that doesn't work is the network card, and all my drivers are on the server, or online. I wish that Microsoft would at least update their drivers with their support packs. I had this problem with a 3 year old Dell system with a very standard NIC that has worked with every linux distro I have tried.
Of course your Windows boxes don't have time to crash because you have to reboot them every 2 weeks because of security patches... And if you don't patch them....
When I worked for a local Goverment entity we had 90 Novell servers and 19 Windows servers. We missed a patch and along came a virus and all 19 Windows servers would no longer boot past a blue screen.
Nothing like rebuilding 19 servers in one day!!
As for linux servers I agree they are rock solid. The main problem I have with linux servers is that they do not have the tools to effectivly manage users, groups, and permisssions. Unless you can Recommend an integrated management utility that allows me to Create users, Assign File rights, Assign Directory rights, Use plugins to manage other user attributes such as E-mail, or chat, etc. Oh and it would be nice if it was intuitive and easy enough that I could teach my Mom to use it. After all you shouldn't have to pay highly trained people to do Simple user management.
I also dislike that standard Unix file permissions. Read, Write, and Execute are just plainly too little. And the only way to assign multiple users or groups rights to the filesystem is with an ACL that was implemented as an afterthought and doesn't have very good support in most unix tools. Sure rwx may work fine for a web server, but not for a File server.
By the way with Novell's open enterprise server you can use Novell's NSS which gives you all the functionality you need in the filesystem. And you can use IManager or Console One to manage everything.
I am not going to say that Novell's software is perfect. Some of their newer products that begin with an "I" havn't been as stable as their older products. I think that their stability will get better with their switch to linux having had to completely rewrite many of their products from scratch, instead of building on their old software.
Novell should be realeasing a bunch of new Software this month at their Annual Brainshare.
I Wish could go to Brainshare. But we are in the process of migrating to the dark side and they will not be sending us this year.
It is not a matter of "drinking the cool aid" It is a maatter of which software makes it easier to do my job. I work with this stuff at least 40 hours every week and I am telling you that Novell software gets the job done faster and with fewer problems.
Most Government agencies have not switched from Novell products because Novell products Work better and cost less.
What do most Government agencies use Novell products for? Most use mainly File and Print Servers as well as Novells Directory. Novell has the Best File Server, The best Print Server, and the Best Directory of any Company and any product!
Many of their other Products could also be considered better than the rest. ZenWorks is much better than Microsofts SMS!
What do you want people to switch to? Microsoft?
The company I work for is in the process of switching over to Microsoft for File and print.

Only if we can also redo the 1992 election where Bill Clinton won with only 43% of the vote. (Clinton NEVER received 50% or more of the popular vote.)
And if there was a "do-over" I think Bush would win again.
Against Gore, Bush won 30 states and if you have seen the county breakdown map he won 75 % of the land mass of the United states. Which means that most places you go in the United states the majority of people support Bush.
If you think things are bad under Bush well.... it could be worse.... we could have Gore...
Bush Recieved more votes two Elections than Clinton did in two elecitons. (20,190,789 votes more than clinton)
Just because the media hates Bush does not mean he has no support. He had over 62 million people vote for him in the last election. I don't agree with several of Bush's policy's but I am sure glad that Gore didn't win.
Most Data Center apps that run only on Windows have better linux alternatives. Or at least that is one way of reading the survey.
You might also note that the top 10 list changed after the results were first published. The initial results were mainly from Novell Customers, and subscribers of Novell's Newsletters.
Not everyone wants to setup a SUS server to take care of their updates. Not to mention everytime we have to pat ches released on our SUS server we have computers that fail to install the patch correctly which causes the computer to reboot and try to apply the patch again and then reboot again and again and again. Some patches you can apply manually and it will fix the problem but some are so messed up it is easier to Re-Image the computer. (Good thing we have Novell's Zenworks or it would be a Huge mess trying to fix all of Microsofts problems)
KDE has tons of cool features, but there is one thing that I could do with Windows 95 that still does not work in KDE.
Use SMB:// or fish:// to access a remote system. Then try to open a.mp3 file. It will not work unless it is copied to the local file system. Try opening a.avi.mpg file and it will not open unless you copy it to the local system.
Sure I could mount the smb share to the local file system, but why should I? I didn't have to map a drive to do this in Windows 95. If Microsoft could figure this out 10 years ago why can't the KDE people figure it out now.
This hasn't stopped me from running linux, it has just limited the amount of music I listen to when I don't feel like mounting the remote file system.(If I have to mount I Wish I could just right click on the remote file system and select mount.)
What's all the panic about. They are only changing their Server offerings and their Buisiness Desktop "Novell Linux Desktop". OpenSuse is still going to be KDE!
I don't think many people want to run KDE on their servers. For a buisiness Desktop Gnome has fewer options to confuse end users.
The problem is that Novell makes more money off the old products than the total revenue of RedHat. If Novell were to just dump their old products they would have no more money to invest in Open source projects.
And why should they dump old products that are still better than anything Microsoft has to offer.
As a stockholder I would hate to see Novell go under by listening to a bunch of stupid stock holders interested in a short-term stock jump.
"I don't see one republican talking about abolishing social security, medicare, medicaid, welfare, farm subsidies, etc. "
Obviously you have never listened to Michael Savage. IF he was a leader of the Republicans(which he is not) the Republican party would not be so liberal.(I disagree with many things President Bush has done. He is far to liberal for my taste.)
I do not agree with killing Abortion doctors. Even though an Abortion doctor murders inocent children for money. As a father of 4 I don't know how anyone could kill a little baby. I also work in a hospital that saves baby's lives that are born premature. I have seen baby's that are born less than 2 pounds live. These are the same baby's that are being Murdered by abortions. Why do liberals want to kill the weakest people in our society that cannot fend for themselves?
godwin=lame excuse invented by liberals to keep from admiting to themselves that if they had their way all gun owning conservative religious people would be treated the same as hitler treated the Jews and Christians. (or at least how he treated them after he took away their right to own guns & then their guns & later their lives)
I have tried several Linux Distros on the desktop and have yet to see why people would prefer Ubuntu to Suse. Mandriva, or Xandros.
When it comes to running a server I like Suse or Red Hat.
I don't like Ubuntu on the Desktop and cant see how it would be any better for a server. ( I don't care much for Solaris 10 either)
That is why the NSA and only the NSA should have access to this information. The NSA would not care if you call your lawyer. Just because the media hates Bush does not mean he has no support. He had over 62 million people vote for him in the last election. I don't agree with several of Bush's policy's but I am sure glad that Gore didn't win.
Highest popular vote received by President:
62,040,610 Bush - 2004
54,455,472 Reagan - 1984
50,460,110 Bush - 2000

Use SMB:// or fish:// to access a remote system. Then try to open a .mp3 file. It will not work unless it is copied to the local file system. Try opening a .avi .mpg file and it will not open unless you copy it to the local system.
I thought that Microsoft was the Evil Empire?
At least the most evil Empire I can think of.
All it takes to change your MAC for any Network card in Windows is to change/add a registry key with your new mac. "NetworkAddress=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx"
In Linux you just use "ifconfig eth# hw ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx"
Since when were Hanity and Savage Leaders of the Republican Party?
Why are you worried about the Conservatives?
The liberals are the ones to worry about. They are forcing socialism on us which is the real threat.
Just look at what Hitler did in the name of socialism.
What do you think NAZI means? Just look it up.
