Heh
In South Africa our bandwidth is so expensive that, to download 100gb of data, it would be cheaper to fly to Hong Kong, go to an internet cafe, and fly back.
Cheaper by about 200 euros. And probably quicker.
every time I say @gmail.com over the phone or even in person to someone, half the time they hear @email.com
that's because you're pronouncing it wrong: it should be the hard "G" sound, and not "Gee"
otherwise, we'd all be saying "Joojle".
sigh. americans and your "hukd on phonix"..
distributed communication an internet does not make
distributed communication does not an internet make
distributed communication not an internet does make
an internet does not distributed communication make
all work and no no play does jack a dull boy make
sigh.
i know it's not a news source, but that graph they have is accurate. i know this because i've seen those figures elsewhere... and besides, the graph is hosted on some other site (which im not going to bother looking for now, because this right here is a complete waste of my time.. )
unfortunately, they're one of the biggest companies (with software on multiple platforms) with more money to throw around than most (they have exclusive sports licences for crying out loud)...
and they have some of the most popular games ever (the sims.. all those sports games that i know nothing about..)
usually it's people like that who have a big say in the way things go.
this is getting ridiculous, what's next ?
"ok sir, your credit card has been approved now please turn around, bend over and spread 'em"
"Please press the 'play' button on your remote, then insert into rectum...
Id accepted, please enjoy your movie."
i found this comment on engadget(which could mean the PS3 has already "won" this round of consoles):

I want a PS3. That controller can double as a dildo!
well... afaik the Revolution & PS3 will be backwards compatible with their predecessor consoles' games. there is still speculation about the Xbox360 backwards compatibility.. but i haven't been following that one much.
in any case, the games you see on that list (and older ones) will be playable for at least another generation of consoles.
you're right about the games being overshadowed by the hardware, but it happens when new consoles are previewed/launched.
i doubt that all the press takes their lead from NYT. what about the Washington Post ? or newsweek ? or the economist ?
i agree that the press is biased, but that's the nature of the beast: humans write the news, humans have bias, therefore the news is probably biased.
it's not that we need an unbiased news source, more people need to be aware when a news report seems to only tell one side of a story fairly.
also, since most of the media in the US seems to be controlled by a handful of people, i think it's safe to say that the bias is almost unavoidable.
so it's up to you to find news sources that you can rely on (like/.:))
on a side note, a friend of mine lives in portland (used to live in South Africa) and he says the local tv news is so heavily watered down they don't even watch it anymore, with the main story of the day being about something utterly trivial like a dog that was shot, and foreign news left for last as an afterthought.
don't know if you saw the MS Keynote Speech @ the GDC, but it was pretty much the same thing.. alot of marketing-jargon and how they plan on selling more xbox2 units as opposed to just making good games that are fun.
jackasses.

...tty(s) and beer.
that's because msn & yahoo employees all use @gmail.

you don't need a machine for that.. 5 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms will work just as well.

yes, because this is just slashdot. not a fucking journalism site.

im not sure about exact figures for handhelds, but i did see this earlier today : http://money.cnn.com/2005/05/26/news/international /nintendo_fy.dj/
and as far as i know, 'tendo accounts for over 75% of the handheld gaming market
