I got a custom-build intel mac mini from their education discount hotline here in the UK, took a few days to arrive, and OMG, no problems whatsoever. You see when you buy a computer and it works jsut fine, you don't usually go on the internet to talk about it alot. Whereas if my mac mini was broken, you'd be damn right i'd moan about it till the cows came home/apple fixed it.
It's the most user-friendly mp3 player with the best interface, and excellent software syncing.
Oh to all you non-conformists herescreaming that it was "T3H MARKETING!!!", Apple used to use exactly the same kinds of adverts for the macintosh, that doesn't exactly have a huge market share.
Yeah, slashdot has this great system, where you can click on special text called Hyperlinks which take you to a site with more detailed information than the Summary. Try it, linking is fun!
I sincerely hope this does not affect the course of the distro, and that it continues to remain as user-friendly and true to it's founding values, but I'm beginning to think Ubuntu has replaced Mandrake/riva as the No 1 user-friendly distro.
err sorry to say this, but when my iPod headphones broke, I just ordered some new ones for *FREE* from apple! just go to here and if your ipod is in warranty or/and applecare you can get new headphones for free without sending your old ones back!
Your first point is to quote his statement about railways and canals, and saying it is ironic. However, he is simply saying that new media is making traditional media obsolete, and since he works for the BBC television program newsnight, his post is not ironic in the slightest.
Secondly, it was simply a joke, he wasn't being stupid at all. In Britain a popular children's show called Blue Peter used to ask the kids to send in their competition entries "on a postcard". He was making the joke that kids no longer send in postcards because Blue Peter allows the children to email the show.
Trip, you often make some very valid points, but there is no need to reply to absolutely every discussion.
Well, to play devil's advocate, Mac OS X has support for inegrated internet apps, but they call them widgets, and the features yo suggested are available from the widgets section of the OS X website free of charge.

I had the same problem explaining Super Monkey Ball 2 to a few friends.
"It's about monkeys in these plastic balls..."
*Interrupting me*
"What?!"
"Sigh, nevermind."
His email is actually steve@mac.com otherwise, very funny.

I know friends with 100% pirated software, I however run Debian, so couldn't care less.
Personally I think 35% is a very conservative estimate.
(not to say I didn't want rocket-powered roller skates).
You mean they *aren't* real!
You spoiled my dreams! I'll see you in court!
I'm using Xorg 7 in kubuntu flight 7, never crashed my X once, not even with my proprietry ati drivers.
Is that 2GhZ dual core? or just single?
It's actually quite easy to avoid paying the microsoft tax.
"Aren't there laws against these things?"
Did you lobby politicians with large amounts of money for a law against this?
No?
Well then there isn't one.
Yeah, because a pentium M 760 is as good as a core duo 2.0.
Where can I get a torrent for a new Graphics card?!? :P

Thank you very much swank, very useful!

I am beginning to think both.

Yes, but would you not agree that the irony is lost because he appears to be successful in both tradiaitonal and new forms of media?
I'm really not getting the purpose of your post.
