Actually it IS all progress. Every misstep is a lesson learned. Sure, maybe the technology is not ready to turn every bit of information digital yet, but one day it will be. Books will still be around for a long time though, so relax.
No it's not. May be the first time they've done a competition of this caliber though. I volunteered at the regional middle school competition this year, and it's been going for four plus years.
They seem to be going about this wrong. The trick isn't to remove danger, it's to balance the damned difficulty such that it doesn't take a tireless obsessive to beat it.
I've actually finished the game (as much as it can be) so I'll tell you this. You've missed the best part of the game. The cell phase is fun, but too limited. The creature phase is OK. The tribal phase sucks and the Civ phase is way too simple. But the space phase is fucking amazing. However it does start a little slow. I felt like the game was rushing me through the other phases to get to the space phase, then when it got there it suddenly slowed way down. But once you get a decent variety of tools for your ship it's all they promised.
Apparently, if you still think so highly of CS. Games that I, personally, prefer: Unreal Tournament (2004, but I hear good things about 3), Team Fortress 2, Call of Duty 4, and Battlefield 2.
I think Killzone 2 beat it there. That old Killzone 2 E3 trailer that Sony tried to con people into thinking was real footage still has no game behind it. The rumor is they're waiting until they can actually make it look a fraction as good as the trailer.
Well, at the moment I'm on a completely nocturnal sleep schedule, however in the near future this needs to change. So I shall plan to test this within a few days! However, the wording of the article is not entirely clear. If I understand it correctly, I should not eat during my normal functional hours while staying awake until the appropriate time, and my body should adjust to a more normal schedule, correct? Ah, well, guess I'll find out. Sounds a bit unlikely though.
Well, I don't see anyone else here who actually bought the game yet, so I guess I'll comment on that! I've played through just about the full contents of the episode now, on the last boss (quite a difficult one, but I think I've got a handle on it, perhaps I'll beat it next time), and unlocked the highest weapons, killed all the robots, and am about through all the content. Took me about 6 hours, so the reviews were right on that note. The humor is about what you'd expect from PA (a very good thing, if you read the comics). There's an enormous amount of detail in the environments, particularly in the individual descriptions of every single little piece of refuse littering the town of New Arcadia. I recall hearing one of the duo lamenting about coming up with a unique description for each crab on the Boardwalk level, and indeed each one is unique, and quite clever. The combat system is nifty. Not certain I've ever come across anything quite like it. Simple, but very functional, and very fun. Character customization is lacking options, but considering how it integrates your choices into the animated cutscenes, it's still pretty impressive. The cutscenes are phenomenal, by the way. Lots of hidden little jokes in the dialog trees and descriptions. There isn't much voice acting (mostly just the narrator), but what there is is great, and I'm certainly not one to fault a game for making you use your imagination here and there. Overall, enjoyed it quite a lot thus far. There are two primary plots in this episode, one (involving mimes who have formed a cult following a dark god) which is resolved, and one (involving hobos and giant, evil, somewhat disturbing robots that PA fans will recognize as Fruit Fuckers) which carries over to the next episodes, I must assume. Can't wait for the next episode.
Not to be a party pooper, and I'm certainly not taking sides here, but in your own link, the US is listed quite low on the list, but only in terms of percentage of gross national income. In pure dollars spent on foreign aid, the US about doubles the next best country.
Sequel? What I got out of it was that they're plotting to make an Avenger movie. Perfectly believable to me, since there's a Thor movie coming out in the next couple years.
In the end you just have to search for and then surround yourself with those occasional outliers, those people who are honest enough to look the universe's uncaring meaninglessness squarely in the eye without reaching for a scripture to anaesthetize themselves with.
I don't get why people are so afraid of the universe being uncaring? It's not that shocking, nor does it affect your life to know this, since it's always been true and never been different. However, if people knew and accepted this they might actually behave more humane, because they'd realize that no deity or karmic force is going to do shit for them.
It took a fair bit of searching, but according to them, 'network readiness' means:
the presence of an ICT-friendly and conducive
environment, by looking at a number of features of
the broad business environment, some regulatory
aspects, and the soft and hard infrastructure for ICT;
the level of ICT readiness and preparation to use
ICT of the three main national stakeholders--individuals,
the business sector, and the government; and
the actual use of ICT by the above three
stakeholders.
Back then it was only one country. With every country in the world participating, it's downright impossible to accomplish that. Not to mention the people not represented in the Olympics that are fighting to be recognized as a country.
Of course, by "companies like Epic", you mean idiots like Cliffy B. Valve exists. Blizzard is bigger than just WoW. If you like strategy games, there is no reason to go to consoles whatsoever. TBS games are best on handhelds, RTS games on the PC.

And we get a better tech infrastructure for it. Fair trade.

When we determine why my teeth disappear from under my pillow at night by science, I will renounce my membership in the Cult of the Tooth Fairy!

Exactly what I was saying. You know that the universe itself is not caring, so you try to make it so.
Hehe, yeah, that's what I was thinking about when I posted it. One of my favorite episodes.

Speak for yourself, I'll be middle-aged. Still die before we get off-world colonies.

Only way for black holes to become "more active" is for more mass to fall into it. Don't know what they're talking about...

If you can see that much, how can you not see that agnosticism is the ONLY rational choice?
Perfect example of the benefits of space exploration in understanding our own planet.

General rule: Whatever you think is wrong.
The moment we figure out basement replicators the world will change in much bigger ways than that.
