It's not "don't give a crap about anyone but themselves" it's "don't assume that they should feel attached to someone just because of where they live".
Physical proximity is one of the many potential unifiers that I deny, along with race, occupation, nationality, sexual orientation, gender, etc etc.
Except that all this high tech stuff works in in climate weather, for many people, over great distance.
6.1 miles in decent weather for one person isn't bad, now take 20 miles, in a place with terrible weather, for the other thousands of people, not to mention the elderly and disable, who, if you happen to use public transit in the US, are two major rider groups.
The speed will always be a killer on the business end. Take a couple weeks ago. I flew out of DIA on a Thursday night, landed in Chicago and was in Wisconsin midnight, left sunday at 1am and was back in Denver by 8AM Sunday.
By rail I would have either had to miss another day day or two of work, or half of my weekend. For longer trips it would be a perfectly viable option except that the way AmTrak runs their pricing zones it's completely uncompetitive with flying if unless you don't care at all when you get there and you don't mind 15 hours in one seat. If they could get their prices to somehow be cheap enough it'd suddenly be an upgrade from Greyhound.
The line already runs through Minneapolis but I never understood why it only breezes within 30 miles of Madison instead of skimming the side. If I could get cheap real transportation between there and the twin cities or Milwaukee/Chicago it might finally be a better option than driving.
Apparently not all that hard if anyone cares. You can take a normal train from one coast of the US to the other. They built bridges over the valleys and blew tunnels through the mountains.
You might want to read the rest of the threads, there's a pretty long one about how many states, (specifically mentioned: WI, OH, CA) do not require any form of identification at the polls. YOu just tell them who you are and if you're on the list you get a ballot.
Why, oh why God, would someone successfully commit voter fraud to gain the ability to vote fraudulently and then NOT VOTE FRAUDULENTLY. Just for shits and giggles?
That would explain them waiting to upgrade, not why the price skyrocketed when the Intels were released. The release of Intel Macs didn't create a sudden population of PPC software users who needed machines, it created a sudden rash of PPC buyers who otherwise wouldn't have been buying machines, and certainly not for that price.
I somehow doubt there was an onslaught of people who needed new workstations right after the release of Intel Macs that couldn't wait until optimization caught up.
I'd like to believe your theory, but considering the same thing happened when Apple phased out the ugly multicolor combo units, and there was no change in architecture, I have to go with my explanation. Namely, that there are a lot of Mac zealots out there who weren't happy using the same technology as everyone else.
Why does it take thousands? I could fill out 2000 registration apps every day for 4 years, and if that allowed me to send in 1000 absentee ballots the system is already utterly destroyed.
At least in the state of Wisconsin getting a DL or ID costs $28 and is free to renew. Is there really such a large portion of the population that can't afford $28 lifetime? 13 cents a day for a year?
Discard that if you want, even when the government offered to pay for the IDs as part of the Real ID act it was unacceptable. People who don't carry any ID what so ever, at least in my experience, do it for the sole purpose of not being able to be identified, not because they couldn't if they wanted to.
THe whole idea was to keep this test balanced by only ordering directly from manufacture configured systems. If you don't do that because it makes Macs looks bad you either need to remove it as a specification for the test, or treat both sides fairly.
The cheapest way to get a PC that's better than a Mac is probably not to configure it to identical hardware since the PC platform has a far greater range of hardware to draw from in price and performance.
The cheapest way to get a good Mac is to do upgrades yourself.Well tough titties! He made the rules for his own study, and didn't bother to follow them because they'd make Mac look bad, what does that tell you?
Not to mention over 800 miles...

Works for me, and every link is just as important to the picture as the last.
Seriously.
That's like saying "If they had just gotten some trucks and worked driving these shipments and kept the money they wouldn't have gotten caught"
Probably not, but that's because they'd be doing legitimate business, or something damn close to it.
And if everyone paid attention to motorcycles we wouldn't need the system at all.
The point is people don't.
I personally don't like my neighbors. I live where I do because of it's proximity to work and my friends and family, not to mention cost.
Frankly, if they all moved away and I was the only person for a mile in any direction I'd be a lot happier. That's why they don't get a "hello".
I'm sure your first question is why don't I? I can only ask, why should I?

Quote? Anyone? If that was the point why didn't he do it?
"Sith Trooper"
Bastard.

Where I'm from landline phones, electricity, and water are all valid utilities.
Since Princess has a phone I wonder if she'll be voting for change?
"Stormtrooper"
Would you settle for "Successful registration fraud would more than likely lead to voter fraud?"
Why does it take thousands? I could fill out 2000 registration apps every day for 4 years, and if that allowed me to send in 1000 absentee ballots the system is already utterly destroyed.
The "tend to be poor" argument is ridiculous.

All I had to do to get my Absentee Ballot was sign a request.
Once you're on the roles it's as easy as that.
Since when are they trying to secede?
I was just up there during their celebration of 50 years of statehood, people seemed pretty excited about it.
You missed the point.

I feel the same way about webcams, advanced trackpads, MagSafe connections, and firewire.
Someone obviously wants these things though because they keep putting them on.
Please.
If you can even notice the difference of 1 lb. carrying a laptop in bag with accessories I'll give you an award.
I know it's hard to carry around such a terrible burden, but for $200 off the top for a better machine I think I could manage.
