    One of the most interesting things about this whole process has been how upfront and transparent they've been

    Yes, like when they said they are sitting on 10K units ready to ship, or when they announced official launch and started selling nonexistent boards, or when they said that this time around they _really_ have 2K boards and to prove it they posted a picture of a chinese factory :). Or how now, 2 months after official launch, first people to get their hands on the boards are children in UK and not people who paind for the boards 2 months ago thinking they are buying something and not preordering.

    WORST product launch ever. I just hope thats the end of rasppi drama and there wont be any more hurdles (for example lack of mpeg4 hardware acceleration, lack of camera interface documentation and so on)

    wherein the client device does not receive position information of at least some avatars that fail to satisfy a participant condition imposed on avatars displayable on a client device display of the client device;

    So as long as the server removes all of the not-visible avatars or none of the not-visible avatars, it's not infringing. As far as "black box" though, I'd be tempted to guess that the server does some checks but not all... after all, WoW had all those warping loopholes people were using a while back so at least some processing of some kind is done client side. If WoW's server doesn't know where the user's avatar is actually standing, the best it could do is send all the avatars in the general area and the client figures out which it sees based on viewport direction.

    Carmack engines use BSP trees, network code will sent player positions for all the players in the same room/branch + safety margin, meaning you will get info about them even if they are behind a wall to minimize popup (players popping up into existence from around the corner instead of just appearing seamlessly)

    Worst product launch ever. If they really wanted to launch it quickly all they had to do was give blueprints and access to Broadcom chips to chinese factories. Btw This is why there wont be any third party clones - Broadcom doesnt sell without NDA and high volume commitments, chinese shops wont be able to get their hands on main chips. This is why Farnell will be making sweet money off of Rasppi. Money not on margin, but on all the fresh contacts they will get. Based on how the EU regulations are worded, to qualify as a "finished end product" the board is supposed to have an enclosure. I haven't really been following the Raspberry Pi, but it doesn't look like it comes with an enclosure. So it sounds like the distis are just being anal (unless you believe the conspiracy theory discussed above).
