Works brilliantly for me in the UK, I also use the 7110 with my laptop, but nothing beats sitting on the sofa reading slashdot on a tiny screen!
AvantGo seems to work well as a browser when used online.
You can pick up your mail using multimail or any of the other hundreds of alternatives.
And contrary to everything written on the web (and that palm tell you!) it does work with a IIIe with palmos 3.1.1, you just have to get the file called IRupdate from the palm website and choose Cradle or Irda in the preferences menu!
the article says about KDE and Gnome: neither has a graphical file manager. Instead of clicking on icons or menus to open and save documents, users must type file names into a command-line interface.
But what about the KFM, KDE does doesn't it? I didn't just dream about those pretty icons and stuff...
I agree, If Sony had marketed the MD as a data format in a big way we would all be using minidisks for our portable storage, not those shite zip disks that are nothing but trouble IMHO.
Minidisks are rock hard, at least with music on them, I don't know how reliable with data. (cos a little bit lost in the middle of an ATRAC stream isn't gonna make much difference)
I think that's because Sony etc. thought it would make piracy easier, i.e. go round to your friends house with your portable and copy your stuff to it. Seems pretty stupid to me, but there you are.
Maybe a reduction in size, but by the very way they work they will consume LOTS of power compared to a transistor, HEAT uses power. The Transistor, not the valve is the big breakthrough!
The 100kbit per sec figure quoted is the rate if all (8?) channels are used by one device, in practice that wouldn't happen and you would get much less bandwidth than that.
Hanging off my win98 box at home I've got one good 15" and two shite 14" monitors one either side of the big one. works great, just wish I could get it to work under linux.
Just like the end of Mona Lisa Overdrive, "The Matrix has a shape" etc.. Maybe when we have discovered that shape we will discover life on Alpha Centuri as well... (No not the game:))
Hmmm... interesting one this. Both good directors, but very different in style. A good comparison that some one made before was Saving Private Ryan vs Full Metal Jacket. Very different films.
How about that for a Slashdot poll?
I think it still has the potential to be a good film with spielberg directing, but if Kubrick was directing it would have had the potential to be a great film!

It's also a bit strange that collab.net is hosting it and not Sun, after all it's still their baby, right?
The message on the ex-site now reads:
Please Excuse Our Technical Difficulties
At about 5:45am PST, our web server was brought down by a veritable tsunami of hits.
I was kind of hoping that SUN should be able to keep a webserver up and running, after all that's their business isn't it?
Does anyone know if the box was a sun box before it died?
Have you thought about getting a US dollar account? I think it's possible here in the UK might be worth talking to your bank?
The film scanner may set you back "only" that much, but how much do you spend on processing and films?
But upgrade the ram ASAP those old
1 Meg 30 pin sims have a use!
Yep, I use it exclusively for my small (1 person + my mum, and my girlfriend when they want to help) business.
I don't do much importing with Word, but My girlfriend does and she isn't really a techie and seems to cope!
Mostly great, my only peeve is the Schedule server from 5.1 is not compatible with 5.2 GRRR.
Stability varies, but in most cases is the same or better than MS Office.
What do you want for several hundred quid less?
That's not expensive over here, an ISDN line will cost you at least that a month!
That's what having a monopoly will do to a country's telecommunications industry!
The 2020 is great, the quality is amazing, it's easy to use and nimh batteries last for ages!
I've had mine about two weeks and have no complaints!

No not dead, Busy.
Read the message!
I really don't care what the iMac looks like, computers should be neatly tucked under the desk out of the way!

I doesn't say they are passing a law banning windows 2k, it says they won't use it in government. Not quite the same thing!
PDC = Program Delivery Control
