actually an interesting question. Now that they are putting so many more apps on these systems, including a web browser from what i hear, mp3 playback etc.... Wont that open up exploits for virus writers and hackers? Imagine an xbox exploit, that would be pretty scary getting hit with a DDOS from 10 million XBOXEN
How would someone go about acquiring a CELL chip and other hardware required to run it? Sounds like a pretty big investment for the casual OS programmer.
UT System has established Rules of Thumb for the following uses of copyrighted works:
Coursepacks Distance learning (performing others' works for distance learners) Image archives (like the Art History slide collection) Multimedia works (incorporating others' works in a multimedia work) Music Research copies Reserves Try to stay within the Rules of Thumb. Interpret them conservatively. If you need to make a more extensive use of another's work than suggested by the appropriate Rule of Thumb, or if there isn't an appropriate Rule of Thumb, use the four factor fair use test to determine whether
Not sure if this has been implemented yet. Or even how to do so, but I think a cool Google hack would be a graphical trace route program simillar to NeoTrace.
Not sure how it would make money, but would be cool as hell with those satellite maps.
I wouldn't call a 3% win a mandate, no matter what our president wants you to believe. Believe it or not, there are intelligent people here; just not enough of 'em:(
Its funny how much faith people are putting in Sony's specs considering
1. The cell chip doesn't exist yet
2. Sony's track record of bullshit, i.e. emotion engine type crap.
Having a weak dollar isn't all bad, it helps to boost exports, helping foriegn consumers purchase our goods at a cheaper price maybe this will help the XBox sales overseas. I do know what you are saying though. One of my friends is canadiaan, and hes always complaining about how its costing so much more to pay off his student loans as of late.
if they actually showed someone playing the system instead of questionably enhanced eye candy. The only undoubtedly real time thing i saw were the glasses with water. The XBox unvailing may have been a let down, but at least they showed some actual gameplay.
Yeah, 2 editorials comprises "most". "Most" people i've talked to are actually pretty excited for the XBox, myself included. If you are going to generalize at least point to something other than a single editorial.
I remember the backwards compatabilty/Final Fantasy argument being the mantra of just about every ps2 or nintendo fanboy. I'm sure this has something to do with the influx of game designers who have been getting snatched up by microsoft in recent months. Now if RockStar games moves, or even offers on both consoles, that would be a death blow.
I think you missed the Genisis, came out at pretty much the same time as TG16. they smoked nintendo out of the gate and pretty much owned the market for the next 3-4 years.
And no, I have no mp3s or any other multimedia files on there.
:)
you must have one hell of a porn collection
Unless they put in redundancy, for example, 425 for storage and 425 for redundancy. Of course thats going to reduce the amount of storable data.
Now I can get rid of my Zip drive.

I think Army may be a little strong, more like platoon or possibly regiment, most of whom probably don't have time for video games.

they'll probably be wondering what to do about the influx of mod chips that will probably come after the release of the PS3.
Yes, I think your right (see below)

Yeah, I posted this earlierhttp://it.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=1505 60&cid=12624375
, mine was marked as flamebait thanks to some stupid ass moderators
Its funny how parent gets modded -2 and parent (which supported my statement) gets modded insightfull.
Isn't part of this due to Microsoft's non-complient browser API?
Go ahead and mod me as flamebait.
They did, i'm sure we'll be seeing it on ogrish sometime soon.
I was just thinking the same thing. How is this any different from what Napster did?

Somebody please explain why our government panders to a the terrorist capitol of the world.
I'll give you a hint
Nice to finally get a developer's opinion of the two.

More bang for the buck eh? Besides Blu-Ray, what exactly is the PS3 going to have that's not going to be in the XB360?
Its getting interesting how slashdot seems to be linking google ads with its story content now (see below)
