If the RIAA wants to change the pricing scheme, do you think that it's going to save most people money? The consumers (for the most part) will be stuck with the bill.
Than again, it could be a blessing if you buy music that was A) Popular years ago or B) Made by lesser known bands.
CableCard compatability will make Media Center more viable. I tried hooking a media center up to a box...and I could not find a code, so it never got hooked up. CableCard will mean no cable box, no wiring, etc.-and expensive media centers will have-and

The sidebar is a useful feature; of course, that is my opinion. As I have multiple RSS feeds, a primary GMail account, and could use the scratch pad (I forget everything I don't write down), I find it useful. However, the addition of these features might be a curse to those who just want desktop search.
The patent covers targeted advertising, not advertising in RSS,Targeted meaning IP address location. However, targeted advertising could cover any search engine that displays sponsored results next to search results by keywords. However, this patent only covers RSS, so it may not prove to be too useful.
If Corsair has a monopoly on these chips, it would be interesting to see whether Kingston can cope. Kingson isn't just going to give up; problems lead to solutions. And, in the case of market, better ones. Lets hope this leads to advancement.
I think that the whole picocell idea is dumb. Even if it both works and is economically viable, what makes you think that an airline is just going to install one? I am a non-believer in other sentient life near the earth, but even if they were, why wouldn't they be detected by satallite or other means? Why would sentient life who could visit another planet use radio waves?
A broadcast flag may stop a Tivo-like device from recording, but as long as there is a video and sound output, there will be some device to record on. I personally think a broadcast flag is useless. Maybe for Direct DVD recorders. But anyone with determination will easily pass a broadcast flag.
Hard law to enforce. If it was a national law, then it would have some effect. Hopefully it doesn't become "National weak law" takes over "Strong state law" like can spam

Real enough for me to believe that it's coming, anyway.

The chineese government knows that microsoft will do anything reasonable to avoid offending it. By the way, freedom is Z©--R, and democracy is -Zå.

I can't write TXT messages for my life. It takes me a 1/2 hour because I'm a spaz and can barely operate my phone :P
I can understand the FBI warning, but I don't pay $20 for a DVD to watch ads for movies that are crappy/have no interest in
Just...wow. How could they get that patent?
If Windows could put it in My Computer so you could drag & drop, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
I like GarageBand, even though I don't own a Mac (I use them like once a week), and this is a cool idea. What about copyrights though?
Have 786k upstream. But if you use it, there will be "dire" consequences.
:(
That is like buying a 3GHZ computer and only being allowed to use two.
Successful? Unsuccessful? We'll have to see. I think that the smaller companies will escape, but Optiumum Online might be forced to
Don't make me go nerd Rambo, Cablevision!
And as TFA said, theres no telling what you're doing without violating your privacy. Lets hope the RIAA doesn't ask for Patriot Act Rights.
