it came from the french but it was given to us because the intended recipient didnt want it... so it was a second hand gift because they didnt know what else to do with it
Yes they can detain you for questioning but no they can not withhold your right to have your lawyer present for said questioning.
This is not every country we are talking about here. This is the United States. The country that raves about its treatment of citizens and how glorious Democracy is. Every time they pull things like this they show the truth that no government is any better then any other because people are all the same and will do what they want when in power no matter what rules exist.
dont quote me on it as im too tired to look it up but i believe a petabyte is 1000 terabytes... and last i checked thats like billions of rods of hogsheds worth of Natalie Portmans being used as station wagons full of congresses.
That could depend on federal regulations at times. Where I work we had an Intern who needed access to things but had to be denied due to his citizenship. In order to legally give him access he would have had to go though a tedious process that would have taken longer then the time frame he was going to be working with us.
Stained our profession? Really? Have you not met the average Admin? Its rare one you find one whos not a complete prick. He did nothing I woudlnt expect out of more then half the admins ive worked with other the years.
Very little you can do to actually hurt the profession
he was referring to the last part of the summary in regards to ISP's in general. It was asking if other ISP's could follow suet and he replied with the the information that in the US it would be possible for them to do as a result of current rulings.
Now if they asked if other ISP's in Hong Kong could do this he would have been a little murky as although it has to do with a similar issue it would not be covered by the actual question.
So does that mean slashdot should be held liable for all the libel that happens here? The individule being held accountable is one thing however you cant cold a company to blame fore everything users will post. Once you do that its an easy weapon against said company. Dont like them graffiti them so they will be sued and lose money for something outside of there control.
Anonymous does more then let some one hide who they are. It also lets some one who does not wish to create an account partake in a discussion sometimes adding valuable insight.
I looked into making a viable product like this a while back. You run into too many issues.
First you have to set up the bios on all machines to prevent booting off any device other then the hard disk.
Then you have to password the bios
Then you need to put a physical lock on the computer to prevent some one from opening the case and resetting the bios.
If you manage to do this you then need a dope slap because you can always use ssh or even plain email to get files out. Then what about the occasion where you need usb drives.
Your best bet is controlling the hardware. Making sure the machines do not have USB ports or cdroms. if you cant get them without the usb port then you could insert locks into them of some sort that to remove requires specialized equipment and a code.
i would love it as well, I could pay myself jack squat having company vehicles and supplied food ext. so that all the money i earn would be protected from taxes
if this was the case wouldn't you then need to look into how the peddles are placed?
I remember one of my parents old cars where you could easily get your foot stuck under the opposite peddle while moving your foot from one to the other. My dad had always told me to be careful of that and I thought he was just pulling my chain until the day it happened to me.
Either way there appears to be an issue, weather its hardware, software, or training. If its training then the question must then be why does this car require special training compared to others and what is said training.
Although I kind of wonder if this wouldn't be better for Myth Busters...
that highly depends... a programmer is not necessarily a software engineer and a software engineer is not necessarily a programmer although commonly is.
However if you follow the scientific notion it does imply that more studies should be done to test if the theory that has been crafted can hold up.
A few issues will come up though. You have to do this to a wide range of students both poor and rich communities to ensure its not just something that works best for a specific social class due to the educators they can afford to attain at those schools. As well as finding parents that will agree to let there children participate in such a test. Most would be hesitant to risk there children education on an experiment making it very difficult to accurately test.
Banks? Well the porn industry does do really well you know.
But honestly banks dont tend to loan to these kinds of business. It tends to be investors... people who dump a lot of money into your start up and take away a huge percent of the profits in return.
unless you as an owner personally want to see the data.. then hacking is the only route... unless you think its not a giant pain in the butt for the owner to have to get a court order

One way i solved this issue with late payments was by adding a 3% per month late charge. They had 30 days from the invoice to pay.
Yea, one would think so... however your forgetting the level of stupid we have running our schools.
In high school I was almost thrown out of a club because one of the volunteers asked me to do something and I insisted to know the reasoning behind it before I would do it. The logic was not there and he would not explain. The advisory of the club took his side and tried to make me apologize for asking and expecting an answer in an educational environment. This was even brought all the way up the levels where my parents had to step in.
If a school would try and punish me for honestly trying to learn then its very possible. My situation contained 3-4 very stupid adults along with 10-15 who were keeping there heads down.
Both ways are honestly very possible.
Now that being said. One of the 2 people with access may have accidentally activated the wrong computers software. The picture was taken and contained something that surprised and disturbed the employee enough where he felt it needed to be reported.

any decent firewall would allow for blocking outbound connections to said ip's as well
no, you can still do it! You just need balloons that can safely stretch large enough for hard disks and learn how to swallow one hole.

In most cases you can set the port you want in both boxs and giving you a single port forwarded.
password protecting the bios does nothing unless you put a lock on the computer case. password resets are really easy to do on a bios

Yes, because culture has nothing to do with it.
I have experience with this kind of child and it does not mean they are a poor performer.
For one person something might take 15 minutes while another it takes an hour.
Maybe the difference is the school I have knowledge of was completely staffed by PhD's by the local college in return for use by the student teachers.

the "feel factor" is often times just switching the order that things are processed and changing the gui appearance to smoother looking graphics.
The "feel factor" is all about perception. Perception is so much easier and cheaper
