I'm a huge fan of the Star Wars universe, even with all it's flaws. However, I agree with most of the posts here and in the disappointment in GL. My biggest gripe is that there is NO WAY IN HELL Anakin would ever have been allowed to join the Jedi. He had obvious problems, etc;, and I don't buy it that Palpatines power could have pulled the wool over the Jedi councils eyes in that regard. Sure, there is a lot in the Star Wars canon that bugs me, but overall, it's a hell of a story and some really entertaining films. Oh, and to those who preach such "episodes 4-6 were so great, yada, yada", well, I've got news fer ya. When I originally saw episode 6 in the theatre, I almost threw up chunks of semi-digested bantha fodder when I beheld those "cute"(and WAYYYY obvious toy/marketing ploy) and furry stuffed animals. You want to talk about ruining a film? They are just as bad as Jar Jar.
The fact that their government is communist(funded by loads of capitalist cash) leads one to believe that their "command and control" in regard to cyber-espionage is probably very tight.
I'm not a MS fan by any stretch or the imagination, and I have been a *nix geek for over 10 years... However, with that being said, I can't stomach black-and-white "blanket" statements like "Microsoft is firmly in "total crap" category." Yes, MS is clearly in opposition to what FOSS stands for, and in a purely philosophical context MS is definitely "the bad guy" in this situation. However, having worked with MS products for several years in a variety of situations, I can say that MS products, mainly due to increased competition, are good and getting better. Unix-like? Of course not. MS products are merely another computing tool. I prefer flexibility, pragmatism and "openness", as opposed to dogma.
Your analysis is correct. I noticed MS trending that way a few years ago, and like you, I believe it's because the competition has changed dramatically to what it was 15 years ago.
"Who still uses webcams?"
I can see from that statement that you haven't been around the several hundred million computer users out there who don't visit/.
I have the 2 DVD at a time plus streaming, which is $16. I'm going to drop down to their 1 DVD at a time plus streaming plan, which should be the same price. It won't be that big of a deal to only get 1 DVD at a time. I use the streaming(SOA, foreign films, vintage Hollywood films, etc;) a lot more...
Can't understand why people like Redbox so much. Anytime I look at what it has, there's rarely something I want.
From what I've read, NF is going to get pounded by renegotiated contracts with the studios next year. So this move appears to be preparation for "paying the piper". I don't think it was a cash grab.
"Now, that said, Apple (because the own the ecosystem) could probably provide most, if not all, of what BES provides without a whole lot of effort, whereas RIM is proving itself challenged to offer what Apple does in terms of user experience."
There you have it.
I got rid of my satellite almost two years ago. Only run OTA(which usually looks/works great) and NetFlix. I have no regrets. One thing I noticed right away is that without the vast wasteland of channels to encourage channel/program surfing, and with NetFlix as my real entertainment portal, I watch less, and watch only what I really set out to.
This is common knowledge to gamers or those who know them. I'm no psychologist, but to me, the fact that gamers would rather sit in front of a screen for the majority of their waking existence, and that they focus all their energies towards the game on the screen, tells me that they are a population that is much less likely to commit any sort of crime, let alone violent crime.
Bombadil was an incredibly powerful being in Middle Earth. The One Ring had no power over him. You must have read a different book...
Brilliant!
If anything, the Tea Party are the Haradrim, Variags of Khand and others who have been seduced by Sauron($$$).
Clinton was the last Democrat I voted for in a Presidential election.

I always wondered how the Stormtrooper armour would have been up against a good slug thrower, like a 12 gauge shotgun or 9mm pistol.

Anonymous and LulzSec are really fronts for Mark Zuckerbergs push to demolish all anonymity.

Probably for the same reason we can't figure out what is causing the rise in Autism: $$$
I'm proud to say I have no idea what Angry Birds is. And no, I'm not going to google it either...

Great post. But he's right. Obama is too conservative.
What about a pipe shaped like a cross?
Praise be to Allah!
I agree with your sentiments but I feel your analysis is a bit too "black and white".

I'll queue up Porkys for ya.
